Haven't been to a Captain D's in at least 5 years. We went this past Thursday having received coupons in the mail. Figured we'd give it a try. FOOD: We had platters with stuffed crab shells, fried fish, fried shrimps, hushpuppies and sides (got rice, coleslaw, fries, green beans, corn on the cob and fried okra). Food was pretty good, stuffed crab shells, okra and fries were the best, followed by the corn, fish, shrimps and green beans, then coleslaw, hushpuppies, and rice (in that specific order 🙂. Rice was a bit uncooked, hushpuppies kinda off (can't spell out what it was, just off), shrimps slightly greasy and small. SERVICE: now this was the 5 star experience for us! The young lady at the counter, PRECIOUS, was a wonderful worker! She was friendly, smiling, upbeat and attentive! It's so rare lately to find someone working who looks that they actually enjoy being there and enjoy doing their work! She made us feel this place was a restaurant instead of a fastfood joint. Through our conversation, she showed us she believed in the company's product, in what she was selling. As a business owner, I would hire her myself! Overall, nice experience dining in at this Captain...
Read moreToday, 7/28/2013, Sunday, appox 230PM, my wife and I were out shopping and she got hungry. We saw Captain D's and since before we had goten good food there we went on overand orderes. At the window we paid and waited for our order. When it finally came my wife checked the bag and found no crackers for the 2 bowls of clam chowder and gumbo we had ordered. When we ask for the crackers we were told that they didn't have any, sorry. Soup/gumbo and no crackers? Well we parked in the area parking lot to eat and found that there were no napkins in the bag and there was only 1 set of flat wear for us to use for 2 bowls of soup and 1 chicken/fish dinner. The fish was so greasy that to pick it up the grease just came running out. Uneatable, no even a dog would eat it. Tried on my dog later, she would not eat. The fries were over cooked and cold and the cole slaw was last weeks at least. I wasted my money and time. It use to be a nice place to eat, good food, friendly people, but now, well, I think I will call health department Monday and have a talk about this place. Do nt waste you money here. Sad but true, it has changed and gone to hell...
Read moreAfter seeing advertisements about captain d's (the name was not capitalized on purpose to show our disdain for this menu item) Herb and Garlic Shrimp meal, we decided to try it. My family ordered the Herb and Garlic Shrimp. This was literally the worst food in terms of taste and appearance than anything either of us had ever witnessed in our lives. Needless to say, we did not eat this slop. The herb and garlic shrimp had the appearance of an under cooked oyster breaded in dark batter with the taste of licorice with no hint of herb or garlic seasoning. In addition, we were further repulsed at the sight of this so called Herb and Garlic Shrimp meal because we could only find shavings of actual shrimp pasted together by a dark unseasoned batter. We're still wondering how they managed to find shrimp tails for this creation. Bottom-line, what captain d advertises as Herb and Garlic Shrimp and what they serve you looks totally different. Lastly, false advertising is a serious crime and I forgot to mention that the manager's customer service skills were right on par with their Herb and Garlic...
