Interesting experience today. My husband and I are pretty laid back and easy to please. It takes a lot for me to go to the trouble of writing a review like this. I happily write one if someone goes "above and beyond" for me but sadly, in this case, I'm writing my first ever crabby review. No complaints about the food--all was delicious. It's the service that was sorely lacking. Our server was a very lackadaisical young woman named Christen. She took our order promptly and returned with our drinks--a beer for my husband, a supposedly "bottomless" Diet Coke for me. After she left, we noticed that the little paper packets containing our silverware had no napkins in them. My husband flagged Christen down and asked for napkins. She said she'd bring them but never did.
After a while another young lady arrived with our food order. When we asked this server about the napkins, she promptly returned with them and also brought me the mustard I asked for. Christen checked on us just seconds after we received our order and asked if everything was all right. We said yes because at this point everything was going smoothly. However, it quickly fell apart after that. We didn't see Christen again the entire time we ate our meal. She never came near the table to ask if I wanted my empty Diet Coke refilled or if my husband wanted to have another beer even though we were both no where near finished with our food and definitely could have used refills. I began to get annoyed because although my husband was nursing what was left in his beer, my Diet Coke was completely gone and I still had half a hamburger and some French fries to finish. Finally, a nice young man--don't know his name but he had a beard and a shaved head and looked like he works out--noticed us and asked if we needed anything. I told him I'd love another drink--it didn't have to be a full one (food all gone at this point) but just enough to "wash down the French fries." He said sure, took our empty plates and went to get the drink. Then and only then did Christen appear behind my husband's head, looking over his shoulder into our booth (we were the end booth) and asked me if we wanted desert. She couldn't even be bothered to walk around to the side of the table to face us both directly and ask properly! Amazing! I told her no and asked for the check.
The sad thing is, I used to wait tables when I was in college and I've always had a heart for servers and the long, hard hours they put in for little money. I always tip generously and am very considerate of them and certainly realize that so many things that go wrong are out of their hands. In this case, however, my husband and I were completely ignored and treated rudely (the talking over the back of the booth thing was incredible). I hope someone at Chili's will have a little talk with Christen about the right way to make her customers feel welcome at the restaurant. She certainly isn't someone who leaves her customers with a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I came in on a somewhat busy afternoon, we were concerned at first once we had gotten sat and seen that there was but one server working . Quickly our judgement was changed. Clara was GREAT she was just as pleasant with us and patient. She greeted us in a timely manner, as well as each table she had coming in , I recall her having 9 tables at once and not once did she seem to be overwhelmed. Our food was hot and fresh, our drinks remained filled without having to ask she just knew halfway through to grab them. I remember watching her at a table there was a disabled child , the patience that this young lady had with him was remarkable. Clara impressed me this afternoon and touched my heart with how she handled the young child, it was obvious the mother was thankful and relieved to have a server as such . Overall this experience at Chili's in Culpeper VA has been the by far best experience . Best food, (chicken fajitas, 6oz sirloin, with a salad and broccoli, a chicken Alfredo pasta and a children's pepperoni pizza with French fries), great service, cleanliness, welcoming atmosphere. Again you have a long time customer as long as you have Clara and or servers just like her present. Would also like to add in addition, all this time I have never been taught how to properly use the little machine on the table, I now am a loyal member, and know how to pay at my table and use the machine thanks to my waitress , she took the time and effort...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the second time I ordered ahead of the time and it wasnāt ready. The first time I place my order online I arrived twenty minutes after ordering and no one came up to my car for over ten minutes so I called in And told them I was here and finally someone came to my window to check me in. From the time i placed my order and to the time I left was a total of sixty minutes and my order still wasnāt ready. So I left without my food. A couple months went by and I fed to try again but this tome I showed up thirty minutes after placing my order but everything was super busy and the take out parking spots were full so I parked elsewhere and walked in and the lady said I had to park in the spot and wait. But I told her to at least check if my order was ready since Iām already inside. Which they couldnāt find because of all the orders. And I was told it was a first come first serve list. And to park and wait for a pickup spot to be available then pull in and wait again. So I waked our and left. Out of the two attempts of take out ordering I have waited patiently for over thirty minutes but still didnāt get my food. Which they both are just small orders. Itās a pasta dish and chips and salsa. And itās not ready when I come in. I really love chiliās and would love to make it work but I donāt know what...
