Cracker Barrel has long been family and personal favorite place to eat anytime. recently though two transactions have left me wondering about the Winchester location. We got carry-out order on the 6th of this month and they missed one item we had to go back and retrieve later and the portion for the chicken my wife ordered was very small compared to the past. As well as the Gritts my daughter had were exceptionally runny. I was willing to give them a break for an off night but we went in there last night on the 18th for dinner and it went from bad to worse. It took 30 minutes plus to get our drinks water coffee and glass of tea. Then they were out of biscuits and appetizer took another 15 minutes to arrive. After I walked out front and spoke to the manager our food showed up about 5 minutes later after he agreed with my concerns. Some of it was missing and some had been sitting under a heating lamp for some length of time. It tasted Ok but was not as good as usual. The manager did knock 50% off the total bill to compensate us for our trouble. I do however think it will be a very long time before we give this restaurant location another try. Which makes my entire family kind of sad.
I was contacted as shown below about my negative experience and I shared the information have heard nothing back from Corporate regarding the request they made. :|
Update: 1/16/23 My family and I have tried again and there has been a major turn around in the level of service provided and the quality of the food. we went yesterday for a late breakfast and all the food was hot and good. the only exception being the Grits were a bit runny but tasted fine. We will continue to patronize the location again and keep an eye on...
Read moreDue to the behavior of some of the people working at the front counter. I am not comfortable paying for my meals there because I don't like being publicly shamed or pressured into tipping. Reminding people that they can tip in any capacity in front of other people is very embarrassing and degrading. At that point, you're treating tipping as it's a god-given right instead of a privilege. I am not going to tip somebody if they provide a subpar service. I have never refused to tip any of the servers there unless there is good reason and that's very rare. Stop pressuring people and publicly shaming customers into tipping. Reminding people that they can leave a tip when the tip screen is up is absolutely outrageous. It is very rude, disrespectful, unprofessional, and downright entitlement. It is public shaming and it is a former pressuring people into tipping. It makes me angry enough to not leave a tip but I have never refused to tip any server who has provided amazing service. I have not gone that route because I don't want to take out my frustration on the person at the desk on a server who did a great job. I prefer to pay on the receipt by scanning the QR Code because I don't have somebody pressuring me or shaming me into tipping. That way I can think about everything without being embarrassed or pressured and render a fair decision on an appropriate tip. For the longest time, this has never been a problem at any Cracker Barrel and I've been a customer since 2002. It's very sad because it makes me uncomfortable interacting with some of the staff...
Read moreLast week we ordered 2 Homestead Chicken Salads and a slider burger kids meal. (Carry out) when we got home realized the $13 salads were only lettuce, 1 half egg, no croutons, no bacon bits, no cheese & only 2 slices of cucumber. And to top that the salad was about the size of a side salad. My sons burgers were cooked so done they were crispy patties of burgers. Yes, I xontacted the manager and told him how disappointed I was with food from Cracker Barrel. He gave me 2 complimentary meals. So tonight I went back for two more salads....walked in and they tried charging me. The girl at the register tried calling for Mgr 3 times and no response. Finally after 45 mins of when I placed my order for 2 chicken salads... it was ready. A young boy walked out with my order and I took the bag. As I double checked with the girl at the register I wanted to check my salads... and to my surprise no chicken. (I'm so glad I double checked) then as I told the little girl there was no chicken on my salad she responds with, the manager is coming. I said, is he though? As I stand there, another little girl walks up and says here I have you some extras in here and hands me another bag of biscuits, salad dressing and to my surprise my chicken! Still no manager. I walked out to my car hoping that calling to speak with a manager on the phone would be better and after 3 calls finally got someone on the phone yet no manager ever came to phone. So VERY DISAPPOINTED with this Cracker Barrel!! I have NEVER had such BAD EXPERIENCES WITH...
