UPDATE AT BOTTOM OF REVIEW (spoiler, they did nothing lol)
My fiance purchased my engagement ring here. Gems on the ring have now fallen out three separate times (in the 9 months since he gave it to me). This last one fell out 3 weeks after JCPenney sent it off to fix it (and I asked them to please make sure all the gems were properly set and strengthen the prongs). Fiance doesn't understand jewelry, so didn't get the protection plan when he purchased. I asked if I could purchase a protection plan after I got it fixed, and they refuse to sell protection plans once the item is sold. Without the protection plan, I'm paying close to $200 every time it needs fixed. They refuse to take responsibility for this last 'fix' that was so shoddy that the gem fell out again 3 weeks later.
So they sold my fiance a ring that falls apart, won't do anything about the fact that they charged me for a fix that was so bad it fell apart 3 weeks later, and won't sell me a protection plan for the ring. I don't work with my hands. There's no reason this ring should be falling apart like this, and the only thing they'll say about it is "should have bought the protection plan." Oh, and the woman at the store tried to tell me that rings like mine always fall apart easily like this, because the gems only have two prongs holding them in. The gems that keep falling off all have three prongs....
Long story short, don't buy jewelry at JCPenney unless you want to be sending it off every few months (even if you get the protection plan).
EDIT: So, as you can see below, JCPenney asked me to call their customer service number. I thought they probably just did it to make themselves look better, so I had my mom call to get an idea as to whether they were even willing to do anything, because it's way too emotional for me to open it up again. They gave her the runaround, finally telling her that they would need permission from my fiance to talk to her. So he called and tried to give permission. They told him the rep had lied to my mom because they don't do that. They insisted they had to talk to him. So he did. And they gave him the runaround too until the supervisor HUNG UP ON HIM after telling him he should talk to the JCPenney manager at the store, which we already did (or at least I asked for the manager and someone came out to talk to me). Guess the next step is to go to the Better Business Bureau because JCPenney isn't going to...
Read moreHorrible customer service. The managment DO NOT know what they are doing in this store. First off, my neice waited at the jewlry counter for 45 minutes with all the salesmen walking right by her, not acknowledging her at all. She was making a purchase for her mom for Christmas. Shes young so I assume they figured she wasnt spending 1000s of dollars and ignored her to help other customers. She called me on the phone and I came to find her help. While making her purchase the computer froze after she slid her card and it said approved. The cashier insisted she pay again. I told her that it went thru and to check her bank app. Sure enough it did go thru. They would not give her her merchandise and make her pay again. We asked for the manager JULS came and was HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE! She should not be a manager and should be fired!. Her name should be karen. We showed her PROOF that the transaction going thru and she still made her pay again. It was an expensive purchase and took all of my young neices money. Now she has no money left to buy the rest of her families presents. JULS should not be employed there. Period! There was absolutely no reason for this. They should have given her the merchandise she paid for and we leave. Instead they took advantage of her being young. Pathetic customer service! We will...
Read moreI like pennys to shop there sometimes. I bought some real nice socks on sale and they lasted just about forever and were really good quality. I also bought some nice dress shirts that lasted a real long time. I worked here for about 4 months. It was hard. I didn't get paid much. I remember one time someone wanted to look at a lamp. I went back to the storage room and had a rough time finding it. It was a really heavy lamp and they wanted two. So I carry these things out there and I was really hot cuz you had to wear a jacket at all times and I was sweating. And the lady said immediately. I don't want those. So I had to bring them back to the storage room which was pretty much all the way across the store. I worked in lamps and gifts and there was one guy there who knew where all the hummels were in the little storage room right next to lamps and gifts where we worked. I could never find any of them. And stocking those little bags of fragrance particle thingys that my wife calls sachet? that was hard. there were so many of them. I like pennys to shop there sometimes. I bought some real nice socks on sale and they lasted just about forever and were really...
