Macado's — Restaurant in Virginia

First of all, it’s hard to rate food when you never get it we got there at 6:15 this evening my son and his girlfriend, my granddaughter and her two small children and myself when I got to the table everybody else already had their drink. She asked me what I would like. I asked for sweet tea. I received unsweet tea then she brought my son’s appetizer but she brought no plates, no silver or napkins I had also asked for my four-year-old great grandson a kids cup. She served him an adult size drink and he couldn’t hold it or pick it up and she brought the cup back but didn’t bring any plates,napkins or silverware. She took off before we could say hey where are the other items she took off fast he tried to catch her, but he thought maybe she was going back to get those plates and silver. She comes back out and comes and went to another table. She looks back at our table and then just leaves. My son got up, went to the back where the bar area is and had to ask for someone else so there we waited on ourselves we placed our order. She never came back for refills. We finally asked her for that when she brought the refills, and 1 water, no one asked for water. Nobody had water, but for some reason, she brought one water when she brought the food my son and his girlfriend had ordered a cheeseburger plain no pickle, cheeseburgers had everything on them, and instead of no pickles, she brought a separate plate of pickles which nobody asked for, my granddaughter ordered chicken Parmesan pasta meal And she received a chicken Parmesan wrap? I ordered the bobager That is a steak sub, no thin steak just hunks of hamburger Keep in mind. I have been going to Macado‘s over 30 plus years That had never happened before. The waitress asked if we wanted her to put in it a new order so we could get our food. My son looked at her and said no we’ve already been here an hour and a half and I’m not waiting any longer to eat here & requested the receipt he was leaving. I got up and requested to speak to the manager,. The lady was nice. She came to the table. I showed her my sandwich which was purely hamburger. She apologized. She said at least let me fix the peanut butter and jelly with fries for the four year-old we agreed but then says she says we’ll just bring a check just for your drinks. We said no we didn’t come here to drink. We came here for a meal.She never came back to check on us for refills. . We got the wrong food so she agreed not to charge us anything but wanted to get the peanut butter and jelly sandwich and fries for the Young one. She then came back And asked us again she said the waitress had put in our order again or we sure we didn’t wanna wait. I looked at her and I said we told her no we did not want her to re-order the food to bring us...

DONT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO SWEAT THROUGHOUT YOUR WHOLE MEAL!!!!!!

Macados has always been one of my favorite places, but this past summer it’s been horrendous. Each time i’ve visited this summer it feels like it’s almost 90 degrees in there. I got sat in the room near the patio this time. I was assuming that may have been why it was so hot, so I asked to move. They moved me closer to the bar. Even then it was still DREADFULLY hot. I asked if they could turn the AC on and my server said it’s been broken for almost a year. Which is such an unreasonable amount of time for how hot the weather has been this year.

& speaking of staff, I could only imagine how hot they are running around taking care of the customers. My server looked like she was suffering, I know it’s not her fault but it’s not a good look for Macados having your employees running around dripping in sweat. I know Macados is popular enough to make PLENTY of money to repair their AC. Not only for the customers but for the employees as well. Having NO AC & seeing the lack of care Macados has for their staff will make them lose an extraordinarily large amount of customers. I will not be coming back until the...

Had a wonderful stress free lunch with friends at Macado's. Everyone's food was delicious and fresh, service was timely with attentive wait staff, and the decor is weird, cool, strange and humorous. One can enter from the parking lot at the bottom and go up the outside stairs, or park behind the restaurant up the hill, and enter with no stairs. This route is accessible. Portions were plentiful, with food to take home for later. The bar is usually full at night, but not many patrons were present for this weekday lunch. Lunch specials were a good value, and the entire menu is enormous, even with a make your own section, as if you couldn't find what you wanted! Overall a pleasant lunch experience! 7/24/24 Had a great lunch here today. It seemed as if there were not many patrons, but everyone was seated throughout the large dining area and bar. Sandwiches were great, wait staff were busy but very attentive. As usual interesting decor. Been in Roanoke for years and one of my reasonable sandwich spots. Fun...
