Mission BBQ is a new addition to this area and a good choice for those looking for a barbecue menu. I got the opportunity (thanks Patrick) to get in here to shoot pictures before the lunch crowd filled up the place. This way other customers can see the seating area and how it looks empty except for the staff getting ready to open and preparing the food. There are various reminders around the room and on it's walls of pictures of the Military, Firefighters and Police Officers along with various unit and department patches from around the country. From photos from September 11th 2001 in New York City, current photos of Soldiers in Afghanistan to local volunteers with police and fire departments from the community. In the the center of the room is The POW/MIA Remembrance Table, this is a reminder for all those that see it that not every Soldier that went to war came back. I have seen the ceremony done many times by the military as a reminder for them to Remember also. There is plenty of seating in the building (max 144) and if you want to eat outside there is a spot on the side of the building with umbrellas and picnic tables. I went into the men's bathroom and it was clean and with plenty of room for wheelchair access.
My wife and I went out to eat on Friday the 14th after work (17:30) which was also Flag Day and a music band playing outside next to a Military Jeep. The line was kind of long when we got inside but it was moving pretty quick but by the time we left (1 hour later) it was longer but still moving. While standing in line we met a Vietnam Veteran and his teen age grandson. We invited them to eat at out table and found out that he worked in Heidelberg, Germany and so did my wife and I, so we swapped stories and ate and had some good conversation.
My wife and I both had the Pulled Pork with Fries and I had the Cold Slaw and of course there was Cornbread. The hard part is trying to figure out which sauce you want to have like "KC Classic, Tupelo Honey Heat or Texas Twang" or you can be like me and try all 10 flavors! During our meal various staff members asked if we needed anything and also took away our empty trays when we were done. All in all Mission BBQ and its staff made a good impression on my wife and I (Michael and his grandson also) and will be a part of our list of dinning...
Read moreHappened to be in the central park area and opted to stop mid afternoon (2:30) to get takeout for the wife and I. We normally frequent the Stafford location. No one in the restaurant but staff and me. The place was clean and the counter staff were attentive. Got the wife her normal pulled pork with collard's and creamed corn. Over half of the pork was overcooked and inedible. She was not happy. The sides were fine. The 4 tubs of Smokey Mountain sauce were gelled in the container. We have never seen this in all the years we have been patronizing Mission BBQ. You could lift a chunk out like jello and it tasted weird. Nope. Didn't use it. My spare ribs were beyond well done. I tried to salvage some meat off the first 4 bones and gave up. The coons got the rest. My beans were good but the coleslaw was so dry there wasn't even any dressing in the bottom of the container. We will stick with the Stafford store. Never any issues there since they opened.
*Note this review was completed without using ridiculous undiscriptive terms like out-of-bounds, OMG, on point, awesome, the bomb, yummy, delish, to die for, do yo.ur self a favor, trust me, or kids emojis etc.. Describe the food, service (or lack of) and provide details on the cost/copy of check and include pictures! Is the place clean? No disrespect to the employees but no one cares about the waiter/waitress/clerk names, or if they look like they fell face first into a tackle box. They get changed like underwear and you don't get to pick one. No we don't care about your allergies or the need for gluten free food.

Read moreOn Saturday evening, I was craving a Bake Potato for dinner. After visiting Texas Roadhouse (Fredericksburg, VA) and seeing the line going out the door, I decided to find another BBQ Restaurant located nearby. This was when I found Mission BBQ. I visited the website, which is not user friendly, putting in the zip code. Even though the zip code was implemented, the website still has you scan through the various Cities and States looking for the one and only Mission BBQ in Fredericksburg, VA (ridiculous, point the customer to the nearest location when zip code is entered).
Unfortunately, after just driving to the location, I came to find out that a restaurant that serves bbq, does not even service Bake Potatoes. I am from Texas and I have never heard of a BBQ restaurant not serving Bake Potatoes to be filled with Chopped Beef, Cheddar Cheese, Sour Cream, Bacon Bits, and Chives. How do you call yourself a BBQ restaurant?
After ordering a Slice Beef Sandwich, a Chop Beef Sandwich, and a small side of green beans; my total cost was $29.94, another ridiculous situation. I say this, not because I am cheap, but because I paid $25.90 for Steak, Shrimp, Baked Mac n Cheese, Broccoli, and a small plain Bake Potato from the Longhorn Steakhouse the night before. Your prices for single sandwiches are extremely too high for such, Mission BBQ should be ashamed of themselves, when your restaurant does not compare to Texas Roadhouse or Longhorn Steakhouse.
I am a veteran and for your organization to Over Price your items like that is disgraceful to all service members and first responders. You say you do what you do for the love of our soldiers, firefighters, police officers, first responders - all our loved ones in service, Over Pricing is not it!
For this I...
