Pupuseria Ena Restaurante — Restaurant in Virginia

On Friday I had a to go order. I haven’t ordered for a while and from the last few times I thought the 25min drive was worth it. Well, I was wrong. I ordered a dozen pupusas, half corn and half rice flour. The corn flour were no good not a lot of filling and not tasty at all. The rice flour ones were so hard that the edges were not edible at all. Also not sure if this is the first time I’ve noticed but they charged me 10.5% sales tax…. What!!??? I went into the Henrico County website for sales tax. It does say that they have a 6% sales tax and an additional 4% for food sales. So where is the .5% come from ??? So disappointed, this was our go to place around Henrico and was worth the drive from the south side. Not anymore.

El viernes pedí una comida para llevar. No había pedido nada desde hacía tiempo y, de las últimas veces, pensé que valía la pena el viaje de 25 minutos. Bueno, estaba equivocado. Pedí una docena de pupusas, mitad de harina de maíz y mitad de harina de arroz. Las de harina de maíz no eran buenas, no tenían mucho relleno y no tenían sabor. Las de harina de arroz estaban tan duras que los bordes no eran comestibles para nada. Además, no estoy seguro de si es la primera vez que me doy cuenta, pero me cobraron 10.5 % de taxes... ¡¿Qué?!

Entré en el sitio web del condado de Henrico para el impuesto sobre las ventas. Dice que tienen un impuesto sobre las ventas del 6 % y un 4 % adicional para las ventas de alimentos.

I have had many pupusas in my life, but their pollo con queso pupusa genuinely blew my mind. I’ve never had one taste so delicious before. The filling was incredible. Their horchata was also soooo tasty and perfectly ice cold (they have the good nugget ice which makes it better in my opinion). Everthing was blended perfectly and has the perfect amount of sweetness. I did get a side of rice just to try, but it wasn’t my favorite, so I will just be sticking to the pupusas which is fine by me....

Nice, unpretentious place.

The corn based papusas my bf got were better than the flour based one I had which was the loroco and cheese. This one doesn’t come with slaw or sauce like the others. The cheese in this one was also a different flavor than in the bean and cheese, pork and chicken and cheese ones which I liked better.

The elote tamales are almost like a corn bread or hush puppy since it’s largely deep fried cornmeal and corn.
