Went to the Silver Diner in Springfield, VA yesterday and attempted to use a free entree promised to me by a supervisor a few months ago. In September 2024, I visited this location and was given chicken piccata with onions and no capers. I was told the last spoonful of capers was given to another customer a few minutes before. Although they provided another meal, I felt they should have been truthful about the situation instead of bringing me this entree. I came there specifically for this entree and would never have ordered it in this manner. After being contacted via email a few months later as a rewards member, I was asked if I wanted to give feedback. I gave information about this experience and was contacted by corporate and later this location in Springfield. The supervisor/manager stated to come by for a free entree any time. I did take a few months to do so, but thought it was not an issue. When I mentioned the free entree, I was asked to verify the name on my rewards account. I had never been asked for this information at any other location. It seemed strange. The waitress then stated no manager was aware of this conversation or the free entree. I mentioned I would not misrepresent the matter, and it actually occurred. They offered a free desert which I accepted, however, I felt the person I spoke to had not been truthful with me. They even went on to say if this actually occurred, I would have been sent a certificate for a free entree by corporate to my home address. After the supervisor/manager showed up at the end of my meal when I was leaving I explained this had occurred, and I did not appreciate being treated as if I was untruthful. Corporate has contacted me and stated I should go back to this manager to resolve the issue. However, I will never go back to this location again. I have been a rewards member for years and had very positive experiences at other locations. I enjoy the service and food at other locations, but will never visit this location again. Sending someone back to the source of the problem is never the answer. Poor customer relations. Very...
Read moreAs a self-proclaimed diner food enthusiast and connoisseur, I’ve been frequenting the Silver Diner in Springfield, VA, since the 90s, and honestly I love the changes…they’ve managed to stay true to their diner roots but also improve and modernize at the same time. Shout out to Chef Ype, at some point, they revamped their menu, and the quality of the food has really gotten better. It’s like they’ve taken the charm of classic diner cuisine and elevated it with a modern twist. The new menu is impressive, featuring a variety of standout dishes that go far beyond your typical diner fare. From Old Bay Eggs Benedict (a must try) to the bold and flavorful Firecracker Shrimp Tacos, there’s something for everyone. They’ve struck that perfect balance between maintaining nostalgic diner vibes while introducing fresh, exciting offerings that cater to today’s tastes. I mean… burrata?? I see you! Don’t worry, the ambiance is timeless as ever, with those iconic jukeboxes in every booth, allowing you to pick your favorite tunes while you dine. Though every time I’ve been there recently there’s a Michael Jackson fan that I’ve been battling in the queue..every other song was like Jackson 5 or another MJ classic. I’m the Whitney Houston fan. Also there’s something so classically “diner” being able to see the cooks in the open kitchen preparing your food. Another welcome addition is the expanded drink menu. Craft beers, margaritas, and mimosas have made their way into the lineup, providing the perfect complement to their dishes and making it a great spot for a casual brunch or...
Read moreA very lovely diner! The inside atmosphere is really fun - the tables all have their own little personal jukeboxes, the booths are big and tall, and even just the paint on the walls and the floors all have that classic 80s vibe to them. Very retro by today's standards.
The place was most clean - I think we may have caught them at a busy time because some of the floors didn't look entirely clean and the bathroom was a little messy. But it also looked like the kind of place that they proactively try to keep in good condition, and again, we probably just caught them at a busy time.
The food is yummy too! Most diners I've been to have had decent food, but still relatively mediocre. The food here, however, is much better! They serve breakfast all day too, if that's your jam (for me, it definitely is). All of the staff were friendly to us as well! No one was rude or even standoffish to us, which was awesome.
Our server was great! They were also not the most attentive though - they didn't stop by our table too much, which was fine for most of the night until there was a small stretch where we all wanted refills but didn't see our server anywhere. In the end though, it wasn't a big deal, and it looked like there was another table for some big celebration or something that was taking up most of their time, which is understandable.
All in all, a fun lil diner for an enjoyable dinner out!...
