I reviewed this cereal spot at Springfield mall a month or two ago. While in the mall I noticed this Caribbean eatery in their food court (Eateries ALWAYS catch my attention). I took note to go back, & give them a shot!! So today…this is where I’m at!! . Where I am: @jamminislandbbq . Location Reviewed: 6731 Franconia-Springfield Pkwy., Springfield V.A. . Tender, meaty with well seasoned mildly spicy sauce!!

The Chicken…LIKE THAT!! Sliced breast, grilled spicy jerk taste!!

The Mac n Cheese…DELICIOUS. Tasty but I needed a tad bit more flavor.

The Greens…DECENT. Cooked thoroughly, but I needed some more flavor.

Their Oxtail Platter (with rice & beans, cabbage, & another side of plantains $18.99). All DELICIOUS!! Tender tail, tasty cabbage, & rice!!

The Plantains…LIKE THAT!! Seasoned & cooked well!!

Their Salmon & Shrimp Combo (jerked with Yucca, sauce, & plantains $21.99). STAMP!! Their jerk sauce is ON POINT!! So lather that on some well cooked salmon, & shrimp…WINNING!!

Their Strawberry Lemonade ($2.75). DELICIOUS!! Sweet, & tasty!! . Customer Service: On Point!! . Online Navigation: Easy . Parking: Decent Mall Parking. . Music: YouTube-Backyard Band 12-13-99 . Recommendations: The Ribs, Salmon, Shrimp, drink & Yucca

My Waze led me on the middle of the freeway with no mall in sight. I was pissed at my Waze app. Little did I know they were trying to give me a sign and save me from disappointment. There is NOTHING island or about this chicken I received. This is just cut up BONELESS chicken grilled on a skillet until it gets burnt. This is the chicken you expect at Cajun grill not at a Jamaican spot regardless if it’s in a mall. It almost taste like they boiled the chicken, the jerk sauce was just jerk sauce not that true jerk gravy but it wasn’t bad at all! Problem is it ain’t enough to cover for the fact that the chicken has NO flavor with out it. And I paid 75 cent for extra and they gave me mini cup of it. Cabbage rice and peas are just ok the cabbage might actually of been the part of the meal. The veggie patty they gave me almost taste like a pot pie in a patty not nasty but once again not ONE BIT of island flavor, no curry, no jerk flavor nothing and it’s more crust then anything. To top it all off no napkin or fork was put in the takeout bag. The one guy with the glasses was cool not to rag on him but you need a REAL island recipe if you gonna serve island food. This wouldn’t fly uptown or around marlow heights. But I’m guessing if it’s the ONLY jafakian spot close to Springfield I guess I brought this on myself. I Love this food and I have been eating here since they opened and the owners are Super but to be honest the customer service skills of the associates need a little work. Today I ordered wings and I received only 7 so I called and asked How many chicken wings in an order? , first I was told 8 and then I was told either 8 small ones or 7 large ones, how am I to know that there are different size wings unless I am told by the cashier which I was not, then the person on the phone said to me "Did I ask " I am the customer so I don't have to ask it should be presented to me or better yet on the menu. Anywho...all the chicken wings look the same size to me( like the chicken wingettes you buy in the store) I will continue to eat here but this is the 3rd encounter that I have had with unknowledgeable associates at your establishment. Also answering the phone so that they may be understood instead of mumbling is a plus.. Also do not call the customer if you don't have all the facts.... The menu online does not distinguish how many wings so no need to send me a picture to my personal phone and then call me to chastise me as if I was wrong...do your homework 1st young man... Then you want to ask "how do you make ot right"...pay attention to your customers that's all..listen before reacting . Great customer service is a winner for me as I am in the service...
