Arrived on 7/24/22 a few minutes past opening and manager was almost 30 mins late after opening time with only one polite employee with short hair who was outside since a little after 5:30a and let me know that they were waiting on their manager to show up. I patiently waited until the manager and other employees showed up late and almost was late to work myself because of it.
The young woman with curly hair who came out to deliver my order was very rude and unprofessional. She gave me attitude about cones that I accidentally knocked over in the drive thru lane which I had informed her that I didn’t see one of them when I first pulled up. In response to her rude statements, I told her to come in on time to move the cones at opening time and she won’t have such issues. She said some other disrespectful comments in front of my 3 year old son (who was screaming the entire time that I waited for them to show up).
Do not go to this Starbucks. There is a time and place for certain comments towards customers (especially when you open late and make customers wait a long time for their orders because of it). I have worked retail, sales and customer service for over 20 years and the young woman with curly hair was very immature, should not be working a service position and she is the reason I left this review. There are plenty of other Starbucks with employees that have much better professionalism, work ethic, people skills and manners. I would give zero...
Read moreThis is my favorite Starbucks in Newport News. The interior is spacious and always clean. The staff is always nice and welcoming. My only complaint is that the focus is almost exclusively on the drive through element (in store design and focus of service). I dare say when you come into the cafe, it feels like you're bothering the baristas or distracting them from heavier work. Another issue (and this is less about this location and more about Starbucks in general): Starbucks cafes in 00s used to be more legitimately "coffeehouses," i.e. they provided "cafe" experiences. You could go in to a Starbucks to read or do work and get to know the baristas, get really good and strong brewed coffee in a variety of blends, and feel a sense of loyalty to "your" Starbucks. Alas, I think that era has passed (it seems). Now Starbucks are mostly in-and-out, alienated places, where overflow stock is stacked on the unused tables that used to be occupied by people conversing, reading, and just being together. This location is better than other locations I've been to in the area, but the problem I've described is endemic to the chain. (This is still my favorite Starbucks...
Read moreHonestly.. anything in this plaza sucks. The McDonald’s the KFC, and definitely the Starbucks. Always wrong orders, always cold gross food and now also gross coffee. Placed an online order went to get it, Brought it home, Tasted it, and it was awful - very milky very burnt tasting. So I drove all the way back there, and they were nice to remake them for me .. seemingly using the same cup as what it look like Cause it had the same sticker on it… Brought it back home and they both still sucked very milky and leaves an awful burnt aftertaste. I think they need to refresh on how to make a proper caramel macchiato or they can let me do it so atleast I get my moneys worth. Starbucks isn’t cheap, so when I decide to “splurge” once in awhile, I expect it to be what it’s supposed to be.
. For anyone looking for decent coffee, I suggest seven brew next-door and the workers are always very nice.
The JClyde Starbucks is also superior to this one. Actually, I think gas station coffee is probably superior to...
