I'm not redneck enough to leave reviews half as ridiculous as the rest of these, though if I had paid better heed to these reviews prior to going it's quite possible I would realize not only the quality of the service and staff, but that of its patrons. Most of "y'all" "reading" this will need to consult what we call a "dictionary" or "thesaurus" (no, this is not a dinosaur).
My first mistake was thinking in any way that this restaurant was related to or in any way comparable to the brand name Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse. This place is not much better than a gutter heated by a crack pipe lighter especially when you consider the company you'll keep and the service you will get.
I called today, a Saturday, to place a reservation for dinner this evening as I'm used to this necessity when going to places like this in every other city, state, and really instance of dining at a hibachi restaurant like this especially on the weekend (even in Cleveland, TN where I'm from mind you), and when I said, "I'd like to place a reservation for dinner tonight", she said, "OK". I said, "Well it's for 3 people..." and was interrupted by her saying, "Oh that's fine, you know this is Bristol (TN) location right?", should have been my first clue, then I hurriedly gave her my name before she clicked the receiver hanging up on me.
Once there, we were sloppily sat at our table across from two horrible women talking expectedly (again I was raised in the south) very racistly and making fun of the people they were about to order food from and to my great dismay, two horrible men were sat in between us not long thereafter also talking racistly (quite sure this isn't a word, but doesn't get spellchecked and fits perfectly) and of course the older, more rude and disorderly man was 16 sheets to the wind prior to sitting down. The younger man seemed like he would normally be reasonable, but with his companion (I'm assuming was an authority figure over him) there he was relegated to the same ridiculous, muted in his case, behavior.
That's just the atmosphere. We were here on dinner and as I expected, were going to pay more for a better show and food in return overall. The food was passable (at best), and I don't really blame the cook, in fact, I feel sorry for him. I'm sure he would've done a better job and put on a better show for my boys had the 4 imbeciles that were carbon copies of every other person in the restaurant weren't openly making fun of how he spoke i.e., "he's saying' Ching Chong...etc." ...blah...
All that wonderulness to be looked at like a crazy person when I asked for "Mustard Sauce" (those of you that don't know this is a standard offering at these restaurants) or "Ginger Sauce" or "Hot Sauce" (the same could be said for these two) and was basically forced to only have "Shrimp Sauce". This is also called "White Sauce" at other restaurants, but here is ONLY SAUCE YOU CAN EVER HAVE CRAZY PERSON THAT DOESNT WANT GLORIFIED MAYONNAISE AS THEIR ONLY SAUCE. I like white sauce. In addition to normal sauces. As my two sons and I wanted to pack up and leave this place as soon as possible we asked for to go containers (3 times before getting them) and sauce containers. It's so funny that for the 3 of us our horrible waitress kept coming up with (2) as the quantity for our sauce containers. After finally giving in to my request for (1) container per myself and two sons (the only 3 people in our party), she literally complained and tried to suggest that I go to the chef cooking at another table to interrupt him cooking and get my 3rd small container of sauce, finally huffing and puffing and doing so herself. Mind you, this is 5:30pm at a place wth less than 3 tables and none of those full in the entire restaurant.
On top of all this class and grace and fun atmosphere, this wonderful waitress added a MANDATORY GRATUITY for my part of MYSELF, AND TWO YOUNG SONS!!! A gratuity that was not stated on any menus, the joke of a "reservation" or in person. Sad my minimum gratuity is 20% and this waitress got the 15% she...
Read moreWorst dining experience of my life and unfortunately I really really wanted to give this time and place 1 more try... But never again Never have someone attempt to have someone cook hibachi at a restaurant for dining guests who have no idea how to do so. The poor old man had no social skills, cross contaminated raw chicken with veggies, let yaki and veggies come to a steamed, unseasoned mess and what was awful, watching someone try to peel off burnt soy sauce on shrimp and then serve it to a guest. I wanted to try this place as it's been remodeled and revamped but will never now come back. It's now a 0 for 2 on me coming here. Sorry but please please do better at educating anyone willing to help be a chef. The server was awesome and she was doing her part as best she could. Never ever ever throw uncooked veggies on a flat top where raw chicken just laid and then scoot the chicken aside to let it burn for 25mins and then attempt to allow veggies to be cooked, that's unsanitary...
Read moreI’ve been to several hibachi restaurants in my life and this one was by far the most disappointing. Definitely priced on the higher side and smaller portions than other places I have been to. The actual cooking of the food was mediocre. Our chef did not perform at all. Not even an onion volcano. Additionally, no sushi chef the evening we were there , so sushi was not an option. Our service was less than average. Our waitress did not hand us, drinks , plates, silverware, ect . Just set them on the corner of the table. I have never been to a restaurant where the waitress does not set your drink, plate ect in front of you. She was nice, but did the bare minimum. I will say, this was the best cooked shrimp and beef I have had at a hibachi restaurant. Not at all over cooked and flavorful, the rice on the other hand was quite plain. Finally, they included a 15% tip on a ticket for 4 people. I normally tip 20%, but since they force a 15% tip I didn’t tip anymore. Probably...
