My husband and I went out this evening for date night. We don’t get out often because my husband is stage five kidney disease. When we first arrived , we were met by a staff person asked Jared. Jared asked us if we had reservations, we said no, we were visiting Bristol this evening. He at first said we don’t have any availability, but then in his undertone breath said, you can have the high top next to the front entrance door with a harsh tone and said you really need reservations. We said that would be fine. As we sat there waiting on our several others entered this establishment and no one was asked if they had reservations. His tone alone was was Vera insulting. As we sat at our table, I felt such disrespect from his approach and tone that it actually brought me to tears. I expressed my concerns to the waitress who was very pleasant. Then, as werre trying to enjoy our meal. I could not let go of how I was made to feel and thought it needed to be addressed by management. I waked up to the counter and approached Jared to talk to him and the “manager ‘“ who I neglected to obtain his name, cut into the conversation. He asked what exactly my issue was and as I began to explain, he dismissed my concerns and kept defending Jared. I explained that I just didn’t want anyone else made to feel as Jared had made me feel. I also work in customer service and if I made someone feel this way. I would want to be made aware so it would it happen in the future. I have also owned my own restaurant and you can’t dismiss and talk over an individual who has a legitimate complaint just defending the staff who was clearly in the wrong. If this had occurred and as the manager stated it was a very extraordinary busy evening, I would let this go, but again; it was not. The restaurant did not get busy until approximately one hour after we had arrived. The manager later approached our table and again made excuses for Jared’s actions. He said he took an appetizer off the bill, which was appreciated but in no way addressed the problem. The staff involved then stood in the back of the restraint as my husband witnessed them laughing at the entire situation. I feel a strong need to let others know that being disrespected to patrons is never good business! You need training for both the manager and the front host on etiquette of customer service....
Read moreSecond time coming here and it was a total bust this time. First time going we loved it. Waitress was very friendly and sweet. We went for an early dinner the fist time. This time we had a reservation for my husband's birthday and I told the restaurant that prior. So I wanted it to be special when they brought out his dessert. We didnt get that far. Waitress didnt tell us her name had an attitude. We where dressed up nice for this occasion were sat at a table that had a nice sign that stated that the light was out of order, don't touch. Very trashy looking for the atmosphere and for a reservation table. We didn't have a drink menu at the table and my husband likes different whiskeys and scotch and we where planning to rack up a large bill with that. However waitress seemed we where wasting her time when my husband asked for a whiskey and scotch list. So he went over to the bar to get it he had no problem with that. But the waitress attitude was not needed. Then he asked for the cocktail menu for me because i ordered the june carter last time and really liked it. But wanted to see if there was anything new to try on that cocktail menu. I was going to get a paloma but decided not to because I asked our waitress for my water to be filled she came over filled it less then a fourth of the way and then said I'll be back and didn't went to the table in front of us to give them their beers from the bar and talked to them for a good while and then walked pass us twice to service this table and talked some more to them. I felt like just because I wasn't drinking alcohol she thought she shouldn't check on us as much. I like the food for the most part. I love the fried green tomatoes ,firecracker shrimp and my husband loves the goat cheese burger with bacon, and parmesan fries. Blackened salmon love that too.Sushi is mediocre. We ordered sushi this time. Spent 81.01 no tip for Kate (asked hostess her name because she never told us)because of attitude and lack of caring for our table. I told hostess about experience and she had me fill out a concern card so I can get a call back hopefully they will call me back. All I wanted was a nice dinner for my hard working husband and he did not...
Read moreOn an extremely busy Friday evening, I ordered the Garlic Parmesan Fries, Tom Kha Soup, Cheese Grits and the Fried Green Tomatoes. I really wish the fries had more zest, as honestly they were sorta bland for something that sounds as though it'd have stronger flavors happening. The Cheese Grits were also a bit of a disappointment, as I make better ones at home with instant grits, butter and grated cheddar cheese. There was just not enough flavor. The Tom Kha Soup was just OK... I use A Taste Of Thai Tom Kha Soup mix with their coconut milk and it's much, much better - this soup tasted watered down and came with a ton of fried won tons (disproportionately so, but generous). Finally, I get to the main reason for ordering at 620 State Street in the first place... their Fried Green Tomatoes are nothing short of AMAZING. If I never enjoy anything else from this restaurant, I will keep coming back for their Fried Green Tomatoes. The chef lovingly places them over perfectly dressed microgreens with savory bacon crumbles and soft, tart cheese, and lemme tell you I am HOOKED. Crispy, tangy, crunchy, mouthwatering. I'd break the bank for this appetizer! I've had Fried Green Tomatoes elsewhere and once I had these, I can't have them anywhere else and be completely satisfied. I highly recommend if this is your flavor profile. The service, though I can sorta forgive them since it was so busy, allowed me to stand in the pick up area for about 20 minutes before I finalize had to say something... that irritated me a bit since it's quite obviously designated for picking up to go food (lets not allow it to get cold before leaving the restaurant)... and I saw the customer before me waiting as well. To the hosts - I see you standing there, not asking if I have food to go. I had to get your attention while you were literally doing nothing. Do better. Atmosphere was lively, the place was packed and it looked as though most everyone was enjoying themselves. When I go back, I'll try some entrees and possibly upgrade my reviews of the food and service. I'd love to try some sushi, but not when it's so packed, as it will...
