I have been a fan of this place for years, until today. While out and about on my only day off between now and Christmas trying to get everything done I needed I decided to stop here with my pops for lunch.
Everything was as it usually is when I go here just a bit busier than usual until after placing our order.
After a while I notice other tables around us who came in after us already have their meals and are about halfway through. So I look at my watch only to notice it had been close to 45 minutes since I had ordered.
Food finally shows up about 10 minutes afterwards just as I was about to walk out because again I was pressed for time. So we decide to stay and eat and I must say I regret it.
First off my dads torta was completely wrong. He had requested chile verde but ended up with carnitas, which to the servers credit they made right but again it cost us another 10 minutes or so, when the right torta came it was just dry pork meat, jalapenos, and lettuce. As for my meal I have never had a worse chile relleno in my life. Usually I can cut it with a fork but today I had to use a knife. Flavor was zero. And the rice was hard and tasteless. Needless to say I didn't finish half my meal and we left. Upon paying for the meal we aired our grievances with staff at the counter. We were told they had a new cook on staff and that they would tell him to "step it up". No effort was made at guest recovery, or to compensate our meal or time in any way.
So in short. I waited twice as long, paid the same, and got less than half the quality of what we normally have. I would also like to note that I noticed several other half eaten plates left on other tables, so we weren't the only ones with issues. Not to mention that due to how long we waited I was put way behind schedule on everything else therefore unable to complete everything I needed to get done today.
I left 2 stars only because I feel the server genuinely tried to help us as well as I have had good experiences in the past but, my last couple of visits have been less than stellar culminating in a terrible experience today. Needless to say it will be a while, if ever that I decide to return to dine here. VERY VERY...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe just found this place about 5 months ago and we've eaten here maybe 4 times. It's an older place but so far had enjoyed the food & the prices are good. Lunch for a family of 3 was usually about $35. We'd only gone for lunch & my daughter has always ordered the shredded beef enchiladas. I've tried the shredded beef tacos, chile rellenos & chile verde burrito which were all good. However; we recently went with family that was visiting from out of town and wanted to go out for breakfast. The seating was moving kind of slow even though we saw empty tables but decided to wait as we had kids with us, everyone was hungry and our family was in a rush to get on the road back home. We waited to be seated about 30-45 mins. They put two tables together but one of the tables had a significant slant that would've caused our food and drinks to slide or spill. They saw us trying to fix it but our waitress didn't seemed concerned and didn't offer help. We ended up having to place the end of table with the slant on top of the other table which was still awkward as now the tables were uneven but at least the plates and drinks wouldn't be spilling or sliding off the table. Our food took a long time to come out! We waited about another 45 mins. This is what we ordered: Menudo, 2 chorizo & egg plates with papas (potatoes), shredded beef enchiladas, a breakfast burrito, a chimichanga, and a child's pancake with sausage patty breakfast. We watched as other's who came in after us get their food and leave. When my family member got up to ask about our food taking so long they said its because we ordered a lot of "fried" food....? When our food finally came the menudo was a mess. It was spilled all over the bowl on onto the plate it was on. The chorizo & eggs was over cooked & dry. They forgot our potatoes and when they finally brought them out they were burned!! And I'm pretty sure they were frozen O'Brian style potatoes. Then they forgot our tortillas and we waited again. And the sausage patty was too spicy for a child. I don't know what happened that day. I don't know if it was the cook or if it was a bad day but I won't be back for breakfast. And felt bad that I suggested it & took my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEDIT TO ADD it seems that many of the members who actually ate there had food poisoning from this location. Will be filing a complaint with the local health department.
I did not have high expectations coming into this restaurant , as it is in central California, but even then the restaurant was below even my no expectations. Understandably, we came as a huge group during a weekday. I did not expect quick service as they do have to tend to small groups that came after us. I was not expecting to wait over an hour for the WHOLE parties food. Trickling in dishes? Understandable. But the WHOLE party?
One of our members asked if they had spicier salsa (we were a large Hispanic party) and one of the workers said ādepends on who makes itā. Red flag number 1: the quality of the food is NOT consistent. Red flag number 2 was the fact that we were never updated on when the dishes would be coming out. The final straw (for me personally) was the joke of the abondigas soup. It was literally meatballs swimming in broth. I laughed at the dish that was served in front of me; surely this was a prank?
Our servers tried their best to keep up with the large party, which to that I applaud their hospitality.
If you are of Caucasian descent, you will more than likely enjoy the food. HOWEVER, if you are of Hispanic descent, I strongly suggest finding another establishment to eat at. I am currently ordering food at the Little Caesars down the street; the quality of food here is an upgrade compared to...
