House of JuJu Visalia — Restaurant in Visalia

Went here on a Friday afternoon during lunch. Place was packed and parking difficult to find Downtown, so get there early if you're on a tight lunch schedule.

First-timer here. I met up with a couple of friends who were already seated when I arrived. Our server was very courteous, knowledgeable and helpful on suggestions. I ordered a "Leticia" burger with bison meat and a side of roasted potatoes. The "Leticia" is basically an Ortega burger. I ordered the meat medium rare and the potatoes came with an option of sauces, but the server was nice to give us a sample of all 3. The burger was really good. The meat cooked to perfection and a good size. The potatoes were cooked well, and the sauces were really good. The kalamata olive sauce was unexpectedly good.

Overall, it is a very relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. The reason I don't give this place a 5 is because I'd like to see some unique burger options added on top of the fancified versions already on the menu. Otherwise, the burger was terrific. I got full of my plate, so I got my money's worth. Highly recommend...

Was in the area and wanted to do lunch with my best friend. The server who first greeted me was friendly and very helpful. She served me a glass of wine even though she was already pretty busy. I noticed she was attending a party of 4, couple 3 tops and the rest 2s. Shortly after I was greeted by someone else. I wasn’t too sure who she was. I put in a food order with her. I decided to go for the flat bread. All the flavors were there for it, tasted good. Deff a good happy hour item. Just it wasn’t flat. Was a decent thiccc size My friend ordered the clam chowder. It took a while for it to come out. For a minute there I thought the random lady forgot to put it in. She let us know they were trying to thicken it up and it was on its way. The presentation was nice. Flavor was not there though. I didn’t see too much thickness for that wait time. Lacked seasoning and salt. Very bland. But the bread. Super good. Overall Bad JuJu. The bread and nice server made the experience good. Food and random lady.....

I love all of the great reviews but definitely didn’t have the same experience. We arrived shortly after it opened so most tables were empty, but the waitress wanted to seat us at a tiny two person table . Asking for a different table seemed to annoy her so I think it set the table for the rest of our service. We ordered tacos with a side of potatoes and a burger with potatoes. No offer of dipping sauce for the potatoes so we asked for catsup. Asked for a to go box for the potatoes but the next time she came back she took the plates and dumped the leftovers in the trash. Also took our dessert without asking if we were finished. Tacos were ok and burger was good. I’m sorry we got off on the wrong foot...
