This is a secret treasure, a hole in the wall with ridiculously awesome southern comfort food! We were on a road trip and needed to stop in Waco to refuel the vehicle as well as ourselves. We found Sascee’s and figured we should give it a try. The food is served cafeteria style; you go up and look at what’s being served for the day, and then place your order. They plate your food, you find a seat, and then they come and take your drink order. Our waitress was very friendly and walked us through the process. The gentleman serving the food walked us through our options. I got the two meat plate with smoked ribs and fried chicken. For my sides I got the cabbage, black eyed peas and the red beans. When I found a table, we were quickly served a basket of cornbread. That just made the beans and the peas a whole lot better! The ribs tasted like they had been smoked for two days. The meat literally fell off the bone as it was being plated. The smoke flavor was so rich, no additional sauce was needed. The fried chicken was seriously homestyle. It was a bit saltier than you’d find in a restaurant, but it was amazing. We all had flashbacks to our childhood and those Sunday night chicken dinners. Sure enough the black eyed peas were fantastic on the cornbread, second only to the red beans. The cabbage was very good, but I have a killer New Years cabbage recipe; this was a very close second. It is a small place, but the folks are friendly, and the food is southern cooking at its finest. Be sure and make this a stop if you happen to be in the Waco area.

OMG! I've heard of this place for over five years from co-workers!! I was finally in the Waco area and made it a point to stop and eat here with my girlfriend. My girlfriend and I are both from the southern side of Southern States. The food here is an exact replica of what both she and I recalled eating his children in Southern Mississippi, Southern Louisiana, and Southeast Texas! There is not a single restaurant in the Greater Austin area that can replicate this food. My girlfriends parents, siblings, myself, and my best friend are planning a road trip from Cedar Park to come back here to eat! It was that good. The smothered pork ribs over rice tasted exactly like how my grandmother would have made smothered pork chops! She passed away when I was in 9th grade. The place brought tears to my eyes it was so close. I have never been able to experience Fried Chicken seasoned like my grandmother's. Her seasoning recipe was lost with her death. Oh my God they're Fried Chicken tasted exactly like hers! And the sides are all excellent as well.

We found this little gem through search of best restaurants near me. It came up in the top 5 and we had a craving for home style cooking. We drove over and at first we drove right past it looking for a place to park. We circled the block and found a spot right at the door. If it is busy you will probably need to park curbside. On Sunday, they do a service line and you tell the gentleman what meat and sides you want. He piles it on so bring your appetite. We got the fried chicken, yams, mashed potatoes, red beans and rice. It was all very tasty. The owner came over and greeted us and we had a very pleasant discussion. The servers were smiling and friendly. They were also serving mustard greens, cabbage, mac & cheese, meat loaf, and ox tails. For awhile we were the only Anglo's in the place but we were welcomed like family. The owner thanked us for coming in to her little place and asked us to come back. I would like to go back on a Friday because they serve BBQ and fried catfish in the serving line.

i was expecting a nice meal after church after calling and confirming they were serving dressing for a nice evening with my loved ones .

walked in and got the kindest gestures from the nice woman with the red and black braids , however when walking up to grab in what i thought would be great meal , the caucasian lady had a rude approach when i simply mistaken what a dish was since it was my first time visiting , my boyfriend and i were very respectful with her and felt maybe she was having a bad day , and as my boyfriend proceeded to get his dish , she was very passive aggressive towards him after she firmly demanded what we had to get on our plate to the point where he was just ready to get out of the line .

after us getting our food , we sat down and felt nothing but eyeballs on us as we’re just trying to enjoy our food , we did expect more for what was paid , most of the food tasted like paper , the porkchop were extremely tuff to bite into, the sweet tea ? oh my….. very much through us off from the sweet bitterness , the yams ? were very watered down , the peas ? was soup like .

the dressing ? not what we we’re expecting and we’re very disappointed

while we’re ready to leave , we kindly asked for our bill in which came out to $70 dollars for 3 people for which we don’t believe was worth for half of the stuff we couldn’t eat nor the customer service we received

anywhere else would have been worth $70 dollars and unfortunately that was my last time...

The food used to be pretty good but there is not a consistency with the food. Sometimes its really good and sometimes its not...Also it is very hard to get in touch with anyone here. When I try to call sometimes to find out whats on the menu, I never get an answer and I always get a recording saying that the voice-mail is full. I've tried on 3 different occasions to contact them just to get the same thing. Another issue that I had was a month or so ago, I drove all the way over there on my hour lunch break and arrived around 11:20am and when I got there, they were not ready to serve. They were still cooking food and putting items out and I was advised that it was going to be about another 20 more minutes or so. Now mind you, the restaurant opens at 11am so they should have been ready to completely serve customers at that time. When you are on an hour lunch break and are driving across town to get lunch, its kinda hard to wait an extra 20 plus minutes to get food when you are relying on the establishment to be open on time. I know that this restaurant has been around for years now, but in order to continue to succeed, please open on time abd be ready to serve by 11am, please have someone that can answer the business phones to answer questions and to take call in orders. I will continue to try to support this establishment, I just hope that they take suggestions from...
