I continue to be befuddled by the positive hype on Marie's Italian Restaurant. Honestly, I have been a periodic customer for years. I keep trying to like their food, but always failing miserably. I'm still waiting to have a great pizza or a tasty Italian dinner but so far no luck. Apparently, no one in Wadsworth has ever experienced quality authentic Italian food. Last night our party of seven was hell-bent on having great Italian. Our first choice, Dontinos in Cuyahoga Falls, was on vacation and closed, so with great trepidation and despair, we headed for Marie's as a last resort. To summarize our disappointing eating experience succinctly, let me point out 2 crucial necessities for great Italian Food. Great Sauce. I will give Marie's a 3 out of 5 in this area; very average at best. Knowing how to correctly cook Pasta. Herein lies the enigma: Every single dinner we ordered came with extremely overcooked pasta. I can think of only one instance where this could be a plus: If you were feeding it to your 2 yr. old baby. To explain more clearly exactly what I'm talking about, I've borrowed a direct quote from the website titled "Delish" Here's what they have to say: Al dente is Italian for "to the tooth" and, in our humble opinion, is the only way to cook your pasta. "To the tooth" means there should be a slight bite to your noodle. The pasta shouldn't be hard, but have a tiny amount of resistance when you bite into it. What you're looking to avoid are noodles so soft that they lose all their texture and are on the verge of turning to mush. (Let's be real: It's heartbreaking to be served a bowl of pasta. And "heartbreaking" pretty much sums it up for all 7 of us Italians, (I think I might also include "overpriced" in there as well.) Additionally, despite the fact that the restaurant was rather vacant; nonetheless, our young waitress apparently had better things to do than to be attentive to our needs since throughout the duration of our meal she was "MIA," which only served to make our dining experience slightly more miserable. So I'm thinking in the future, if I'm going to endure eating mushy baby noodles such as you might find in your high school cafeteria, I'm better off staying home and digging into some...

I had a late Mother's Day celebration with my in-laws tonight. We have been going to Marie's for meals since it was on the south side of town. Today was the last time I will be going back.

We were seated relatively quick and our waitress, Megan, got around to taking our order. We got our drinks from Megan and nothing more.

A girl from the back brought us salads and cole slaw, but I did not receive my soup. My wife had to ask for bread which is normally brought out by the server.

I watched as Megan disappeared into the back banquet area in between doing a check on us. She did ask if everything was O.K., but didn't bother to take a look at our drinks before she disappeared. Any decent server knows to check on a person's drink while they wait for their entree.

We past the time chatting, but no Megan. Our food was brought out by a guy from the back. Decent customer service might have the server there to help point out where the entrees go. We did not have any salt or pepper or any condiments available to us, so I got up and got our own. A worker looked at me in shock while he refilled his drink.

My father-in-law tried to get the attention of another server to get his drink and mine refilled. My wife got up instead and went to the bar to get refills. She mentioned to the barmaid that our server had disappeared.

Megan reappeared to what she must have viewed as content customers. I expressed my displeasure with her service. She suggested she had family issues in the back. But, then also pointed out that her family owns Marie's...as that was supposed to suddenly make thing better. To me, it made it worse.

I watched as kids came out from the banquet area, went up to the pop machine and help themselves to drinks.

One thing I brought up with my table was that I remembered Megan from a time before and how poor her service was at that time. We had very similar issues (disappearing, refill issues). After her mentioning that her family owns Marie's, it all made sense. ...

I want to start off by saying I like Marie's food. I don't go there often, but once in a while, a tasty fresh pizza is in order... the only issue is every time I go there, the service gets worse. It isn't the wait times on food, places are short-staffed and can't help it. I'm talking about the awful attitude some servers have. Case in point: went there tonight for a meal. Gave over 20% tip (8 on a 30). Got my change back and it was wrong, so I asked someone to have our server come over when she had a chance. I told her about the issue. Reminded her that I gave her 50.41 to cover the cash, even told her where the jingle change, tip and cash I was paying with was located. She rolled her eyes and told me "that's what the computer said, your change was 12.92, so I gave you 12, I guess the computer messed up" I said I didn't know why she was acting like that.. she rose her voice and said "Acting like what?! I gave you your money, you should be fine." Dude, I'm not even one to complain, and I always try to be nice because I know how it is... but really?? All that attitude because I dared to question the amount she gave me back in change?? Yeah I know most people wouldn't be asking to settle for a dollar, but honestly it is the decency of the whole situation. She didn't apologize, had a snotty tone of voice/body language, AND even if she did think it was 12.92 for my change, she thinks it's okay to keep almost a dollar without asking? It is sad because I love taking my brother to this place, but I don't want to go somewhere I am treated...

Second time here and the second time I left disappointed. The food: We both absolutely love a good pizza and were disappointed with the pizza on our last visit. Everyone has an off day and we thought this may have held true. But, nonetheless we were disappointed once again. Our go to order is a pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage. A “PMS” as we like to call it. The pizza looked promising upon delivery. Although there were a few areas bordering on slightly over cooked. Initial impression upon first bite: so so crust, bland cheese, rubbery mushrooms, average pepperoni & sausage. The sauce was flavorful. In fact it seemed to be about the only thing favorable on the pizza. The service: our waiter was very attentive. He checked on us frequently and never had us asking for anything. His service was honestly the highlight of our visit. The atmosphere: the dining room looks outdated. Both seats of our booth were lumpy and sank to the center. Both menus (bound like a spiral notebook) were about 1/3 of way separated/loose on the binding. Overall opinion: an average pizza and rather limited menu for an Italian restaurant.

Looking for a another good Italian restaurant to try out one night for a change up, here is a good one in the Wadsworth area. Food was overall good. The best thing we had of all the meal was the Pizza. Had the Meat Pizza with Jalapeños. I would try another speciality pizza next time. Also had the Pizza Bits that were good... however the side or red sauce on the side is what made it. Was super good to dip them in or dip the crust in from the Pizza! The Spaghetti and the dessert Cinnamon sticks we wouldn't get again. Services was a bit slow, but still they were kind and did apologize for the wait. Would come back again to try another Pie! Recommend if you are in the area

Food was amazing don’t get me wrong. But when it takes 15 mins for our order to be taken, and another 15 to get our breadsticks it’s a little disappointing. Whats even worse is when I go to the restroom and this gentleman comes out of the ADA stall and just WALKS OUT THE BATHROOM AND DOESNT WASH HIS HANDS!!! I told an older staff lady about it but she seemed to shrug it off. Keep in mind this gentleman handles the food. Absolutely disgusting. I don’t think I’ll be coming back in fear of cross contamination between bathroom germs and my food!!
