The manager here is the worst I have ever seen. While our server was taking our order, the manager pulled her a few steps away and told her to go to a table that was just seated. Our server told her that she was almost done taking our order, but the manager told her that she had to excuse herself and go take the other tables order. Because the manager did this a few steps away from our table, the conversation was easy to hear. The only reason we did not leave is because our server stepped back over to our table and finished taking the last two orders.
Awhile later, our server returned to the table with bread. Her eyes were red and you could see that she was trying to hold her emotions in. We ask if she was okay and she replied that the manager told her that she was going to send her home after she was done with us. Also the manager would not give her anymore tables and she would consider whether she still had a job there.
When the seven of us (me, my wife, and our children) go out to eat, we will not start putting in our order until everyone at the table knows what they want. This time was no exception, the server was at our table for maybe four minutes not including the time the manager pulled her away. In addition while the manager was walking around talking to patrons at other tables, she never once spoke to us although she had to pass us every time she entered or exited the kitchen.
I am not one to claim racism at every little thing, but the only differences between us and the other table was we were there first (by at least 5 minutes), there were 7 of us (2 of them), the server had already taken 5 of our orders (2 left), and we are black (they were white).
The food was was good as it has been in the past. We had to send my wife's medium well steak back because it was closer to medium and she does not like seeing to much pink. We spent about $220.00 not including the tip (about average for us).
This was my third time at this restaurant and after this experience it will be my last. Again, we would not have stayed if not for our server. We gave her 20%, hopefully she gets it.
I go out at least twice a week (once with my wife and then the whole family). This was the first time in the Waldorf area that something like this...
Read moreOver salted food. Why does so many cooks do this when salt shakers are on every table and people can add more to taste. So stupid. November 21 was the day we paid too much for really bad steaks.
Over cooked very super chewy sirloin. I complained to the manager and SHE BLAMED ME for ordering my steak to be over cooked!!!!!!! She said, “want do you expect if you order a steak cooked medium well? REALLY you going to talk to me that way lady????? That really ticked me off. Good meat should be good regardless of it being rare OR well done. That is what I expect!!!!! Especial at their prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I sent it back and upgraded to a rib-eye and said ok it medium instead of medium well. It was NOT oozed medium but still over done in my opinion. Cooked closer to well done but at least edible this time. My experience with ordering steak is cooks usually do not want to over cook it so tend to under cook it. I have had way to many blood disgusting steaks come out. So I err on the side of caution and ask for a medium well steak and usually get a medium steak. I can tolerate a bit of too much pink/red. My husband tends to under cook at home too. So I nuke his cooking for about thirty seconds.
We figured the cost per pound for sirloin to be about $30+. At that price the steak should be almost erotic great. You know, make your eyes roll up great. Mmmmmmm great. It. Was. NOT! And the manager blamed me? What on earth is that nonsense? How dare she!
Will NEVER RETURN. We tipped our waitress how apologized for her manager. But we would still have tipped her. She did not cook my food. I almost never ever stiffs wait person as long as they do not insult me directly with a rude comment. I tip even when I have to ask for flatware to eat with. But I leave with a very low opinion of them. LOL
Good service. Very poor food. Terrible management. Too expensive for a very noisy place. High prices does not match a place people seem to go to drink and yell. I did not care for the atmosphere either. Kinda Saloonish. Tavern. Bar. Get drunk and puke place but pay for the...
Read moreI've never had something so good be ruined. My wife and I tried it out for the first time to catch a 4pm playoff football game. Parking lot looked a little full but there was plenty of room inside. The menu was full of things that looked awesome. The food was fantastic, the beer was cold and there were no issues with the service. Plenty of nice bar projectors and restaurant TV's. Lots of brick and wood for a cozy/nesty feeling - great atmosphere. We were in heaven, and then the game started.
Yes, I get it, it's a sports bar, people are gonna drink and I don't expect it to be anywhere near quiet. I expect it, I typically participate, and I'm good with it. I noticed a nearly full bar area with all the patrons watching the game and having completely normal conversations and behaving like normal humans do in public. The game was audible over the bar speakers. Over the course of five minutes, a small group of animals at the bar escalated normal conversation to literal yelling and screaming to the level that I would have expected immediate removal by law enforcement. At this point nobody else was making a peep. After five minutes of this I was beyond myself. I stood up and screamed AS LOUD AS I COULD to shut up and was ready for anything. They couldn't even hear me. We asked for the check, and our waitress confirmed "It is always like this during games." We left at the same time as another patron was leaving, for the same reason, and carried our conversation of disbelief into the parking lot. I've never seen anything close to this in public, this was nearing prison behavior without guards. Total zoo with zero "cares" given by management.
Besides that, this place is...
