I have been a customer for the past 5 years. I always come in sit at the bar and order. This particular day, the person who took my order assumed it was Togo. When the food came out bagged up I decided to open it and start eating. I asked the guy behind the bar (old man) for a cup of water and he put it in a Togo cup. Shortly I asked for a container to put some sauce in. He went to the back and when he handed me the small container his finger was inside of it. Once I called it out on it he quickly removed his hand and denied that he had his finger in it. He then proceeded to aggressively tell me “your food was Togo you should not have sat down and not tip”. He literally did not serve me nor ask me if I needed anything I had to ask for a water. He continued to demand a tip. I expressed that I have never been treated like this and I was a loyal customer. He said he didn’t care and did not need my money. I will not...
Read moreMy experience was deeply unsettling and felt rooted in racism. I wasn’t given a menu, offered a drink, or acknowledged until my food arrived. Our attempts to get the server’s attention were ignored. When we first arrived, we were told we couldn’t sit on one side of the restaurant—yet later, a white group was seated there immediately and treated with full service. When I questioned the reasoning, the explanation made no sense. The server claimed it was so she could "see us better," yet barely checked in at all.
I’ve supported this place for a long time, but I can no longer stand by a business where this kind of behavior is tolerated. I’m an intelligent, respectful, and kind woman, and it’s heartbreaking to end the day feeling so dehumanized.
To anyone reading this: please be aware, speak up, and stand against discrimination—wherever...
Read moreTo Ms Taylor, I was on the parking lot of the establishment when I read your review. I was hesitant after your review but decided to go in to make up my own mind. This was the early afternoon and one sit down group was inside (I’m carrying out). My experience was quite the opposite. I was immediately greeted by Olawon (shorter, very sweet woman) who exuded hospitality. She was attentive and answered my most inane questions patiently. The server you unfortunately encountered may have been having a bad day. Don’t let that discourage you though especially since you mentioned you frequent this place a lot. Instead, I suggest you converse with management about your experience. God bless! PS:!to everyone else…while you’re there , try their homemade Ginger Lemon Iced Tea ….SO...
