Iāve dined at Milk and Honey before, and I had a lovely experience, so I came back today with high expectations. I arrived for my 12 pm reservation ready to enjoy a great brunch, but unfortunately, the experience was marred by a series of disappointing surprises. To start, I was informed there were no chicken wings available, which was frustrating but not the end of the world. Then, I was told there was no spinach (really?), and to top it all off, there were no grits, a staple on the menu. At this point, Iām already questioning the kitchenās preparedness for a busy brunch service. I had my heart set on certain dishes, and it felt like every option I considered was unavailable. What saved this from being a total disaster was my waitress. She was absolutely fantastic, apologetic, communicative, and determined to make things right. She promptly checked with the kitchen again, and thankfully, they were able to restock the grits last minute, so we could go ahead with our meal, though we still couldnāt have the wings. While I get that things run out, I was disappointed to see multiple key menu items unavailable at once, especially with a reservation in hand. This isnāt what I expect from a place thatās built a solid reputation as a brunch destination. However, I do want to give credit where itās due: the service was exceptional. My waitress truly went above and beyond, and itās because of her that Iām not leaving this review more frustrated. Based on my previous experience, Iām still inclined to give Milk and Honey another try, but I hope they can improve on stocking and managing their menu availability. I shouldnāt have to worry about whether or not theyāll have the basics on hand, especially for a place that has so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām slightly conflicted giving this restaurant 3 stars as our experience was good and bad at the same time. We came in for brunch on a weekday, restaurant didnāt look that busy. We only had a party of a couple people. The worst part of our experience starts from when we walked in. There was no host at the time and it seems like a couple people are having some form of corporate meeting by the bar. There were about 5/6 servers besides the bartender that were walking around and not acknowledging us standing by the door for 5-10minutes. If the host isnāt by the door, donāt expect a greeting or a warm welcome from other workers. We even headed to the bar and sat down waiting to be acknowledged. We finally get a server and put our order in. Not gonna lie, food was pretty good. Our server was fine. Hence the 5 āļø for the food. But for such $$$ pricing customers sure do expect not just great food, but an environment and ambiance that makes us wanna come back and spend more time and money. Our experience unfortunately wasnāt like that. Not to mention, it was my birthday and it was a disappointing dining experience. Do whatever you all got to do to get the TEAM MORALE up. When the servers are happy, it reflects on the restaurant. The guaranteed way to have a great impression is right at the door and on that, they failed miserably. We will not be coming back until further notice. It will be difficult to keep up with the competition with such morale once we get more brunch spots in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas so excited to hear that Milk & Honey opened up near Waldorf as I had seen it on social media and wanted to try it. My dad also was interested in trying, so for his birthday, I booked a reservation. I added that it was his birthday to our reservation notes, and asked if anything special could be done for him (Not picky, just anything at all to make him feel special.) I also added my allergy to nuts in our notes, which the server acknowledged immediately. Then, after we paid the check and as he walked away, our server looked to my dad and said "Oh, and happy birthday, man."
The salmon and grits were delicious, and my dad enjoyed his catfish and grits. However, my stepmom ordered a simple traditional breakfast, with a fried hard egg. They served her an over easy egg that was super runny, and when she asked for a fried hard egg a second time, they brought out egg whites, no yolk at all.
Lastly, our dishes were brought out individually, with a lot of time in between. My dad's dish was brought out first, followed by my dish 25 minutes later, followed by my stepmom's dish 20 minutes later, causing us to not be able to eat together.
All in all, the experience was definitely not the greatest. The restaurant definitely has potential to be great, but there are things they need to get in order prior to. Rooting for...
