I've been a customer at Casey's for 20 years! Their Motown Sandwich is my absolute all time favorite corned beef sandwich! I grew up in walled Lake and frequented Casey's with my parents as a child and then on my own as a young adult. I moved some years ago and now live about 20 minutes away. I still stop in from time to time and grab carry out.
To be honest, the service has taken a serious dive since Casey passed away. It kills me to even say that since he was such an important part of the Walled Lake community. He's still the reason I go there today! Unfortunately if they are busy and you want a drink hopefully you're a regular. Otherwise you will remain invisible and the bartender will serve whomever they know first. Even if there are 14 people before them. Also if you're a man your chances of getting served quickly increase exponentially. My husband and I tested this theory. Same amount of people at the bar. Same level of business and same workers. He was served relatively quickly. I was ignored until I had to ask for help. Once I did ask for help I was told that I was overheard "complaining". The funny part was I wasn't the only person. The sad part is I am a great tipper when I receive adequate service. Notice I did not say fantastic or great service, just adequate. That means all a server/bartender has to do, is do their job and I am glad to tip them 20 plus percent. I worked in the service industry for years and have a huge place in my heart for anyone who deals with the public. But I really hate being ignored. That's just rude. And from what I hear I'm not the only one who feels this...
Read moreVery disappointed in Casey's "New Menu".
General Tao's Chicken ($18) - This used to be one of the best General Tao's in the area. The old dish's chicken was perfectly cooked and would melt in your mouth with a delicious sauce. The current version is served with less chicken than a small McNugget. You are paying EIGHTEEN DOLLARS for nothing more than a small plate of broccoli and over cooked noodles.
Rocky Balboa ($11) - This used to be called the Italian Stallion and that was exactly what it was. A delicious Italian Hoge that was too big to fit your mouth around. Mounds of salami, ham, and provolone cheese between two delicious Italian rolls. This is no longer the case. Now that sandwich has been turned into nothing more than deli meat on a hotdog bun. I've had cheaper and more delicious Italian sandwiches from subway. If you are going to name a sandwich after Rocky Balboa, make it a meal worthy of a Champion.
Michigan Celebration ($12.5) - While I am not surprised that a salad at a bar and grill was not up to par. This twelve dollar salad that was supposed to come with Cherries, Apples, Walnuts, and other Michigan inspired foods, came with more red onion than lettuce. The onion completely overpowered everything else on the plate.
I am not sure who decided to change the Casey's menu, but they need to take another serious look at what they are trying to do with this restaurant. The once great American/Asian Bar and Grill Casey's used to be is gone, replaced with nothing more than a bar with overpriced and uninspired food. Please please please, bring back...
Read moreI spent 13 years in fine dining restaurants so I have an understanding of food costs as well as the importance of reading a menu. When I sat down back at my office with my $20 worth of food, I opened the container to find no wasabi or pickled ginger! For a carry-out order of sushi to not be served with wasabi and pickled ginger is upsetting. I went back on their website to find, crammed down toward the bottom, in the same size and color font as actual menu items "wasabi and ginger available upon request". What the hell is that??? I alluded to food cost earlier, but if you're going to offer it at no charge regardless, why would you not include that in with a carry out order??? On top of that, their spider roll (soft shell crab) had virtually no crab in 25% of the roll. For $12, I'd expect equal crab in every piece. I shouldn't have gone against my better judgement, getting sushi from an "Irish Pub" masquerading as a sushi bar, but it was close to the office and convenient. With literally a dozen or more sushi restaurants an extra 5-10 minutes away, I won't be making the same...
