Le Gateau Elegant — Restaurant in Walnut Creek

A few days ago my husband and I finished his doctor appointment at the nearby Kaiser, and drove by this little bakery on our way home. We stopped in since it was our 3 year wedding anniversary and picked up a couple desserts to take home with us.

I'm not much of a dessert person, but I like sweets in small amounts so I picked out a couple of raspberry petit fours (I bought two for us, and two extra ones that we took to my parents). We also picked out a custard filled éclair and a Neapolitan slice. My husband bought a croissant for breakfast and we boxed up the rest.

The total was just over $20, which we thought was a lot but we weren't really surprised. After all, it is a little bakery in downtown Walnut Creek. Everything is a little bit more $$ around there.

We recently ordered a half sheet carrot cake along with a flourless chocolate cake for our 50th wedding anniversary party. The carrot cake was beautifully decorated in white roses along with gold leaves. But, the one thing that helped me make the decision to purchase from Le Gateau Elegant was the fact that the owner makes her own frosting from scratch. It was so much more enjoyable than the super sweet usual frostings found in other bakeries. The cakes were well received by our guests and I heard compliment after compliment. My Husband spent several weeks tasting all of the cakes in the Bay Area before our backyard wedding in June 2022. Le Gateau literally takes the cake! We went with a 3 tier wedding cake with vanilla cake and raspberry filling and the result was absolutely stunning. The cake was hands down, one of the most beautiful parts of the wedding. We really wanted to take the food over the top for this event since it was a humble backyard wedding with under 100 guests. The cake really got us there. They also made it east for my husband to arrange from our home in Brooklyn, NY.
