Unexpectedly Amazing Experience at Pacific Catch – 5 Stars!
I stopped by Pacific Catch in Walnut Creek around 5:30 PM after nearly a year abroad. The moment I walked in, I asked the hostess—Rodaba if I could use the restroom. Now, let me tell you, she gave me this sharp, slightly feisty look, with eyebrows raised and lips pursed like she had memorized the guest policy word-for-word. She told me, "Restrooms are for guests only."
I get it—rules are rules—but I told her I’m a regular, just haven’t been around lately due to travel. Her expression didn’t change much, but I could tell she was a little skeptical… and maybe slightly annoyed when I asked if she could check with the manager. (LOL, sorry Rodaba!)
To my surprise, she did check in with Manager who happened to be right behind her, Gabriel, once she confirmed, she graciously let me use the restroom. That moment turned from tension to a spark—I swear, Rodaba gave me this deep, locked-in stare, the kind of stare that makes time slow down. Mesmerizing, intense, and honestly… unforgettable.
After that brief adventure, I returned and told her I’d try the bar. Only two seats were open, neither appealing, so I came back and asked her for a table for two—my son was joining me. Without missing a beat, she led us to the back patio, offering a few options. We chose a shaded table in a quiet corner—perfect spot.
Then came Evelin, our server, who was absolutely wonderful. Friendly, upbeat, and informative. She walked me through the menu like I was a first-timer all over again. I went with a Trumer Pils (German Pilsner), a Coke, and their always-satisfying Fish and Chips.
The ambiance was lively, with live music filling the patio, great energy all around, and top-tier service from both Rodaba and Evelin. That initial spark of feistiness turned into a fun, memorable welcome back.
It was an experience full of personality, flavor, and great vibes—Pacific Catch still has it, and I’ll definitely be back much...
Read moreDecember 11 around 8pm, I decided to change my rating to a one star and update my review. Restaurant is not too busy, but it was unfortunate that we had to wait 45 minutes or so before we were served. We have to wave multiple times to get their attention. They were all congregating at the reception desk while we sit right across them.
I am not sure if they're "choosing" who to serve first, but hey, it's our favorite place so we waited for the food. We tried to forget that we were ignored, but wow eating when disappointed is no fun. The drinks seem off and bitter and the food while ok seem not enjoyable.
It used to be that the manager and staff would be on top of things asking cutomers if they're ok.
No matter how great your food and ambience is, a bad & unattentive service will ruin it all.
Other seafood places are just around the block. It would be worth the walk to get better service and not wait to be "chosen".
Old Review: Never a disappointment! We are regulars to the one in Dublin and now they're in Walnut Creek. I have visited this branch 3x since their soft opening to test and see if they are consistent. They didn't disappoint. Small space, but well-laid-out to maximize seating; the limited number of booths opened up the space. Part of their menu changes regularly, which is good to keep patrons coming back. Food is consistently and...
Read moreI was here for a 6pm dinner on NYE with a small party of 6 Here are my irks: • One bartender. They prominently display fancy cocktails on the menu. It took 35 minutes to get a glass of wine, one lemonade, one chocolate milk, and three fancy cocktails. • The waitress seemed distracted, and seemed to ignore our table all night. When our food arrived, I tried to ask her for two more sets of utensils, and she left without making eye contact around the table. Luckily a chef saw me start/stop try to ask her and asked me if there was anything I needed… • When the dinner was obviously winding down, we discussed trying the mocha ice cream, but it took so long to flag someone down for the bill, we decided to not bother. There was no perfunctory, “Can I get you guys a dessert or aperitif?”
The restaurant was only about 20% full when we got there and only about 60% when we left, so I don’t know what was happening.
The food was a solid 3.75, but nothing was outstanding, but the Japanese whiskey Manhattan was stellar, by report the jalapeno margarita (mai tai?), and my wife’s pina colada drink was pretty good too.
I might come back for lunch at some point but I don’t forsee dinner again unless it’s someone...
