AiPaPa Hot Burger — Restaurant in Walnut

Whenever my wife and I go to LA, which is about two or three times a year, we make a huge list of places where we want to eat. There's simply so much variety in the LA area that's not available where we live in New Mexico. We expect high quality from the places we pick, but AiPaPa really blew us away on our most recent visit.

We have a lot of experience with regional Chinese cuisine, but everything we ate here was at least somewhat new to us and all of it was delicious.

We tried the lamb soup, spicy lamb burger, cold skin noodles, stir-fried street food noodles, sliced spicy potato, cucumber salad, fermented rice milk, and house-made frozen yogurt.

The service was exceptional, too: Our server explained the entire menu, was super attentive after it was served, and gave us instructions on how best to eat the leftovers. The owner also gave us free ice cream on the way out, which was a lovely gesture for the two little kids with us.

What a banger of a spot. It is tucked away in a small plaza within a bigger plaza. We almost missed it the first time through the parking lot. We sure are glad we did end up finding it though. It’s a smaller spot, but they’ve got something special going on here. The food was all solid. If you love carbs, you’ll enjoy your time here. The staff mention that the food comes out slow (we didn’t think so) because they are restauranteurs second, and musicians first. In between serving the tables, the staff are up there playing live music for the patrons. What a nice surprise! The Chinese hamburger was nice and spicy too, with loads of meats. Looking forward...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic restaurant, and I can’t recommend it enough! The potato noodles were absolutely delightful—perfectly cooked with a rich, savory flavor that paired beautifully with the sauce. The lamb burgers were another standout, incredibly juicy and full of flavor, with just the right amount of seasoning. But the real surprise was the lamb soup—warm, hearty, and bursting with tender lamb, it was the perfect comfort food. Every bite was better than the last.
