Shah's Halal Food — Restaurant in Walpole

The on-line ordering experience is HORRIFIC!! AVOID IT! I placed my order from a nearby store, carefully timing my wait in line and allowing for preparation of the meal. My intention was to finish shopping, pick up dinner and head home. At 5:47p, I ordered a combo meal, a Falafel Gyro, hummus, pitas and white sauce for 6:20 - 6:30p, 10 minutes after what DoorDash gave as the earliest available time. The confirmation email came back as "ready for 6:25 - 6:35p." Five minutes isn't the end of the world. It was Saturday and I figured maybe they were busy. I waited in the parking lot and there were no customers seated and eating in the restaurant. The takeout traffic was constant, with people coming and going every few minutes, but at no point was there a line. To me, it did not appear busy. At 6:22p, I checked the status of the order and learned it would be ready "6:45 - 6:55p." That was unacceptable to me so I called the number provided, wanting to cancel the order. The number rang through without identifying to where, saying it was a full voicemail, then hung up. Now I was fuming! I called my home and asked my husband to search on-line, find the number for Shah's so he could call and cancel the order. (I was shopping with someone and had to get them home.) He had the same experience with the number. I made a 30 minute round trip home and back to Shah's to get the long-awaited food, probably arriving at about 7:00p. Lo and behold, they couldn't find my order at first. When they did, thankfully, it was still warm, but no one could tell me how long it had been ready.

The kicker??? THE PICKUP TIME ON THE RECEIPT IS 18:16. 6:18p. About 40 minites after I arrived at Shah's. About one hour after the time I arrived home with the food. And about one hour and 10 minutes after I received a text notifying me that my order was ready for pick up at 7:07p.

If you've read this far, first, thank you! Now I'll tell you about the food. I We didn't touch the hummus that night, since we were eating later than planned. I thought my falafel were a bit hard and needed to be broken into pieces, but I loved the hot sauce and the white sauce. The combo meal (chicken and lamb) was good and a very generous portion. Shah's Halal Food is great! I am a big fan of this style of cuisine and I used to live in Boston and was sorely missing having a CNRG nearby and was very excited when this location opened in Walpole. This was my first time trying Shah's but they did not disappoint. I have tried a few of their dishes but my go to order now is the Combo Gyro and an extra order of their Hot Wings. I have been bringing family and friends here for the last year and every single one of them has really enjoyed the food!

The prices are a great value for amount of food you are getting and everything is delicious and the flavors are great! I really can't find a single thing to complain about with Shah's. My father in law is a bit picky with food but we got takeout once for him and he liked it so much that he will now pick up a large order when he comes to visit because it's just consistently good and fresh and he knows everyone will be happy to eat Shah's. While I don't follow a strict Halal diet, my parents do and so when they come to visit, it can be a bit difficult to pick food to get for us to eat but now Shah's is my go to.

We had ordered from them so many times that I began to wonder if they do catering orders for parties and events and in fact, they do! I worked directly with the owner to place an order for a party we had this weekend and it was a huge success. Everyone loved the food and everyone was asking where it was from. The price was amazing for the amount and quality of food that you get.

There's someone in the reviews that stated they felt the prices were too high but I honestly have no idea what they are smoking. The prices are great and provide a great value to the food you are getting, especially compared to the nearby options. That same person was suggesting other chains that are nowhere near Walpole and even comparing this authentic HALAL food to American chains 😂. Looking at their history it seems they are from the VA/MD area and yes inflation is partly a factor but the real difference is that MA has a 56% higher cost of living compared to Virginia.

I had never seen such food that have less quantity than this such a scam restaurant in the name of halal food I have try their only one meal and which I am only concern about nevertheless I have tried it five times and each time the quantity of food become less as they are selling the world's best food with a 10 dallor price plus tax, the company should feel the shame this is not a scam this is the worst case for me cause i see when people are hungry they had to buy the food or not so they if they buy the food to fulfill their hunger like in islam we are not allowed to eat chicken ,they are selling the chicken to them in less as they are needy or else they will die let me get to the point i see that the rice over chicken was place on the one side not even in the half plater but in advertising they are fill in the plate of rice over chicken (gyro) till top and i feel like that salad over rice and chicken i had for my meal okay if you are really a food lover than let me tell you I am too and my hunger increase by eating such a less quantity and you cannot say something to the staff to put the chicken cause the way she put tells that she is given full order to put that much small quantity okay I say the food is fine bit even a local gyro can compete with you and your all type of food in this I give guarantees 💯 yes they can beat you in taste and this is not just about food,if you talk about staffing she literally don't know the english I have also seen the last comment saying staffing was so poor if you are reading it he is right and please tell me why they don't know English do you know she was laughing on me as she was making me fool I feel so bad I thought I was not in america that place is something else like foreign country such a bad pathetic service , although I have decided already just ban their restaurant to eat by myself or food lovers and there is nothing to try anything else as I am done now!!
