Cute place, great selection of food and drinks...but the service? Pew. I went there with a friend and ordered lunch and a coffee. There was miscommunication because the order taker made my friends drink, then didn't tell her co worker, so she made the same drink, and then my friend had 2. No big deal, but then....
So She ordered first and paid for hers, and they gave her a number, 39 for the food to be brought. She went to get us a table outside since it was busy that day. I then ordered, and the cashier said she would put my food on 39 as well since we are sitting together I said ok, and she said when the server comes over just keep the number until the order is complete. I was waiting for my beverage , which ordered an advertised Iced Mocha. The drink was barely cold, to which I asked for ice. Then, got napkins and condiments for myself and my friend before I went outside to join her at the table. When I got outaide. my friend had her food but not the number. So now since they took the number they won't be able to find me for my order. So to AVOID THIS happening, I go back inside to let them know they took the number back, and I still have a plate. I talked to the cashier, who Assured Me they would bring my sandwich, and asked what I had to double check. (I saw 2 new customers ordering, and were given 39!!!!) I told her I had a turkey wrap, she said ok And I mentioned that my number was given back out, she ASSURED me she would bring it out. I went back outaide and sat with my friend, and the EXACT GIRL i spoke with proceeds to bring me a breakfast sandwich "for Kaitlin". So, did she just ignore our entire conversation ??? Lol i was so baffled. Anyway, so I said what I had again, and another server finally brought it out. She had a napkin and a fork and slammed down the fork upside down on the table and put the napkin on top of it ! it was RUDE AND GROSS....And after all that nonsense and $22 later and BURNT FRIES to boot, I think I'll find...
Read moreBeing my first experience at a Brewed Awakenings I was hoping to discover a cozy spot to do my work and indulge in a snack. Unfortunately, Brewed Awakenings will not be that for me. To put it simply, it is a glorified Starbucks with a larger food menu. The atmosphere is a positive of the restaurant. It provides this feeling of being in a cabin in the woods, a warm feeling. However, (a negative),multiple TV’s were damaged / had a distorted display. The parking lot is absolutely atrocious. The seating provides a wide ray of table tops, high tops, couches, and chairs. However, (another negative), the high top tables could barely stand on their own. The table I had chosen in the corner of the restaurant wobbled with a finger poke; I couldn’t even write in my notebook without it violently shaking. I asked the waiting for a stint or anything to hold the table in place. Returning with napkins and shoving them under the table; this did not fix the problem. After waiting for about 20 minutes for the food (a negative )I was disappointed with the display: small bag of chips that you could buy at Walmart for 50¢, my small drink (about 5$ ), a sandwich, and a hard boiled egg that was cut up and displayed on leaf. I could have bought the same sandwich at a smaller local business for a cheaper amount and it would’ve been better. Overall, I personally do not recommend eating here, maybe suggest it for a small study spot if you have noise canceling headphones as the music and other patrons are an added chaos, the parking lot is horrible (unless you’re paying with a small hike from the Barns and Noble next door). Very disappointed with my first experience at...
Read moreLong-time fan of Brewed Awakenings. I started coming to the original Johnston location back when I was a student at RIC. Once the Cranston location opened, started going there after work. Then, moved out of state to MA and forgot it existed.
Moved back to RI and learned that the old Land Rover dealership on Bald Hill Rd. became the home of a massive new Brewed Awakening. Very, very impressed and excited to see the owner disrupting the commercial coffee chains.
But... the drive-thru customer service here is terrible. I've gone through the drive-thru line 3-5x and it is always very unfriendly and non-energetic. I make it a point to start by stating, "Hi! how are you?" - The response has been either "what can I get you?", or "good".
I don't understand where the common courtesy is... where is the: "I'm well, and yourself?". This is fundamental stuff. I am particularly surprised and taking the time to write this due to my support for the owner's success over the years. I know this is not the type of service he would promote, and hopefully there is coaching/change as a result of this.
I can assure you, if my employee(s) lacked this fundamental skill in an establishment of this size, there would be no coaching--I'd walk them out the door immediately. Why would anyone come and pay $6-$8 for a drink that they can get out of a Keurig for $0.50 cents / a pod if the...
