This was my first time having Smokey Bones in a few years, and I was honestly pretty disappointed. I placed a takeout order online and when I got to restaurant there was nobody at the host stand or takeout stand. I waited a good 5-10 minutes before someone came over. I understand that Tuesdays are a slower night for restaurants, but I was on the verge of calling the store directly simply because nobody was coming over to help me.
Once someone came over, all she says is, "hi", and did not look happy at all. I said, "I'm picking up an order for _". She hands me the bag that was sitting on the counter, so I asked "is the ice cream in here" because typically with takeout orders, ice cream comes in a separate bag. She says to me, "whoever took your order didn't put it down, but I can just grab it for you". She walks back over and hands me the ice cream. I said, "thank you but there should have been two" she said, "I put two scoops in here", so I asked, "well how much is it supposed to come with?". She looks at my receipt, and says, "the cookies are just the cookie, they don't come with ice cream". I said, "oh online it said they did", so she got me another cup of ice cream.
For reference, this is the description of the cookies I ordered. "Limited Edition - Warm sugar cookie with sprinkles, topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and a cherry". To my understanding, two celebration cookies should come with two individual sides of ice cream.
Then, she rips open my bag, puts the ice cream in the bag of hot food, and re-staples the bag. Immediately when I got into my car I ripped open the bag just to take the ice cream out. When I got home, they gave me one sugar cookie and one chocolate chip cookie, when I ordered two sugar cookies. The sugar cookie ended up being burnt.
I also ordered the chicken tender platter with lemon pepper dry rub on the chicken. The description online said, "Two oversized crispy chicken tenders, with your choice of ranch or honey mustard and 1 regular side." I did get one oversized tender, but the other one was definitely not oversized and there was hardly any lemon pepper on the chicken. For my side, I got potato wedges. I only got 5 potato wedges, which feels pretty skimpy for an adult side. I will say that the potato wedges were delicious, so I was upset that ended up being my favorite part of the meal. Overall, the chicken tender platter was good, but I definitely do not think it was worth $14.49.
I had a great experience a few years ago when I dined in, but this takeout experience was honestly not...
Read moreI went with my friend and my son and it was both their first time eating Smokey Bones. I made a reservation and called to say we would be 15 minutes late. And I understand that our fault. And I marked preferences for a booth and we actually showed up 5 mins early from what time I said we would arrive. They wanted to sent us at a high top table and booth. And luckily the host was nice enough to ask the seaters to check if the booth were available. It took us forever to get our drinks. We ended up putting our whole order in. And they didn’t bring plates for the huge entree platter to share. I had to ask for that. On top of that, our waitress said she would bring us napkin and never did. She also seen that our cups were emptied and stated she gets us a refill and never did. I noticed a table had a birthday and she was very attentive to them. And I realized they were friends. She went and checked on them multiple times and kept forgetting about us. By the time she was facing my direction for me to finally wave down, we finished our food with a burning mouth and running nose. No extra napkins beside the ones our utensils were wrapped in. At this point I am frustrated. I asked for a refill and napkins, and check and a box to go. We were done with our drinks and food and wanted to leave. She got us out checks and never ever brought us the box to go. To which I said leave it or else we will be waiting on another 15 mins. Never again will I come back to this establishment. The customer service with the waitress is what ruined it for us. It would have been one thing if she was busy, but I guess she wasn’t that busy to chit chat with her dining friends who had a bday… anyways that was the service alone. Let’s talk about the food. The appetizers were better then the entree. But we order the Korean pork belly and it shrink sooooo much as if they were forgotten about under the broiler. We order the sharable platter for 2-3 people and the sliced steak was COLD! The Mac and cheese was the work Mac and cheese I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and make the Mac and cheese from the box instead. For the amount of money I spent the service and food was not worth what I had paid and would not recommend this experience and food to any friends...
Read moreI’ve loved Smokey Bones ever since I moved to Rhode Island in 2021. Good drinks, decent food, cool ambience.
However, I went with two buddies for some food and drinks this past weekend and our waiter provided incredibly poor service. I believe his name was Rey. Trying to be empathetic, I understand if he was going through something personally, but if that’s the case he should not have been working that night. Now to be fair to my party, he was rude, inattentive and it was very apparent he did not want to be there.
First, as we fumbled with what we wanted to order he didn’t offer any suggestions. Just stared blankly at the table until we landed on something. My friend asked what they have on tap and he responded, “A lot.” Then when my friend was ordering his food, Rey walked away IN THE MIDDLE OF HIM ORDERING to go ask the kitchen if it’s available. Didn’t pardon himself or let my friend finish his sentence. If he couldn’t hear us, we get an aggressive “What?” And everytime he brought something out, we played a game to see if he would respond to a “Thank you,” and he never did! Lol Sad man.
He brings out our three drinks and our food and never checked in with us again. You’d think he wanted to peddle drinks for a bigger tip but we had one round and sipped on ice water the rest of our meal. I would make eye contact with him as he walked around the restaurant so that he’d come ask if we needed anything but he also never did that!
This is the kind of service waitstaff want to provide, and then cry that they weren’t tipped enough. I refuse to reward a professional’s poor service… but of course I still tipped something! Lol I should have been petty and tipped $1 because that’s what the service deserved.
In all, I’m sorry if he was having a bad day but I shouldn’t feel like the waitstaff from one of my favorite restaurants doesn’t care about providing me good service. Especially when i’m super nice and warm on approach and LOVE TO TIP BIG FOR GREAT SERVICE, the other side to that is I hate people in CUSTOMER SERVICE that don’t care to SERVE CUSTOMERS lol. Funny thing is I have never seen him there before. Not sure if Smokey Bones is spiraling into obscurity but I hope not 🤞🏽 Sorry,...
