Can I give Savers 0 stars? Even that would be too much. Finally gave up on this store after shopping there for years, mostly because the prices are ridiculous - it's a thrift store!
We know you need to turn a profit, but one of the reviews said they have to "clean" the items so there's work involved. That's a blatant lie. I know someone who worked there and they do dump the donation stuff out to look for something that's not legal --or maybe a cockroach or three -- but they do not wash that stuff. Who would expect that? Don't care about that because I can wash the clothes, but come on!
*A new with tags top from Walmart priced at $12 that has a WALMART PRICE TAG of $7.98? *A half burned Yankee Candle for $10? What? *Oh, and $12.99 for an old bra just because it says Victoria's Secret on the tag? Dudes, it's 6-7 years old with sweat stains.
I remember when the pricing was fair. Not asking for .99 deals but how can you get this stuff for free, pay your employees minimum wage to throw it on a rack, and price things so high they sit for weeks? Then send out a 30% off coupon to try to move the stuff that is still overpriced with 30% off.
And that glass case in the front? LOL. An old, outdated iPad that can't get any updates anymore is $200. It's $199 for last year's generation at Best Buy next door (NEW!!). Some Juicy Couture shoes (sold at Burlington...they are junk) for $50 in the case. WHAT? A bent flute for 100s. A. BENT. FLUTE. LOL!!!
One of the grumpy managers was asked for a price on a used, wrinkly button-up shirt (J Crew, the tag inside next to the material tag will always show the manufacture year-- 2018!). He looked it up on eBay and said $20!!? He looked up the ASKING price from a delusional ebay seller not the sold price.
Really? That's not what they sell for, it's what someone is ASKING. Stop looking up prices on eBAY when you're supposed to be helping people in "need..."
No one in need wants a 6 year old shirt for $20. They go on sale at the J Crew factory outlet for $12 NEW.
You're pricing things for resellers to keep them out of the store -- but without them your sales would go down the drain.
The managers walk around like customers are imposing on them and the rest of the employees look like they are forced to be there against their will.

Read moreYou never know what you will find when you to to Savers. Definitely, sign up for their free membership, you build up points for repeat shoppong rewards which gives you a percentage off on a future shopping trip. Savers will send out discount coupons in your email which definitely help out when you buy their merchandise. Savers can be a bit overpriced for donated items that they are given to fill their shelves. You need to know your prices and what you are willing to pay for.
Be prepared to scan your own items at check out. Savers has eliminated having a friendly cashier at the end of your shopping adventure. So much for the human interaction feeling of a shopping trip. Savers charges extra on their over priced donated items, and have taken away a cashier job. They do have one or two people overseeing the checkout process of your shopping trip. So consider yourself as a non paid employee to move their donated merchandise out the door...oh yeah bring your own bags..or you can buy reusable bags their too. The days are over when a place of business offers bags for their merchandise.
All and all...its the thrill of the hunt that makes this store a great place to shop and you might find a diamond in the rough. Just be aware of the higher then expected prices from a thrift store that sells donates items.
Normally I would haven given Savers a 5 star rating..but over priced items..lack of employment opportunities..gives them a 3 star rating to this business and their out of touch with reality operating costs as a thrift store for the community. I hope the upper management and CEOs review this post and sees what a horrible business practice they...
Read moreI used to love this store. Not anymore. Although there is plenty of merchandise to pick from, it’s a total turn off to be surrounded by employees who are miserable and never say so much as hello or thank you to customers, especially the very rude management. The old management team used to be so nice and welcoming. Not any more. Customers seem to be an annoyance to them. And prices? They are not pricing for the average person who needs a cheap pair of pants. A 12 year old pair of Chicos or LOFT pants is 9-12$. It’s not vintage, it’s just old out of style junk. A j crew skirt from 2016 (check the tag inside)is $12+. A half burned Yankee candle is $10. A Walmart brand hoodie is $11.99 (new at Walmart 12$). Jars of costume junk jewelry in the case now priced at $299. !! A used wrinkly button down shirt from Banana Republic $9-12 — you can buy them NEW at the BR outlet for $18-20. A dress from junky Shein (!) is 13.99. Old Navy dress $14 (old navy offers 60% off all the time. New dress would be 18-20). Missing a tag? The manager on duty will make up a delusional price depending on his mood — Target brand shirt $12 because that’s his uniformed opinion. Yet the next time a similar item is $4.99 from a different employee. Get some training in how to be respectful to the shoppers who pay your salaries — and get real about prices. No one wants old...
