We arrived without reservations, but it was just my husband and I. So we were able to be seated right away. I would highly recommend reservations. We were seated right away and were handed a daily beer menu. OMG! They had everything you could think of. And things I had never heard of. My husband got a gift card from work to this place and a friend of ours is always posting about this place so we gave it a go and tossed caution to the wind when it came time to ordering our beer. My husband ordered Odd Side's Hazel's Nuts Toasted Marshmallow. A bourbon barrel aged stout with coffee, Hazelnut, toasted marshmallow and coconut. Now, I normally don't care for stouts because they tend to be very heavy. This stout was not your typical stout, instead think of the best mocha shake ever and remove the ice cream. That is what you are drinking. Not as sweet, but you get the picture. I tried one of the house beers. That's my Jam: Pineapple Blackberry. A wheat ale with pineapple and blackberry. Very yummy! Light and crisp. Perfect drinking beer, not overy sweet, not bitter either. Now, the food. On Saturdays they have Smoked Prime Rib. Of course, he got the 18 ounce and it was smoked to perfection. Melt in your mouth, shut the front door and smack your momma on the *. Nothing fancy, it didn't need it. I, because of some recent stomach issues, got their pretzel crusted salmon. The salmon was perfectly well cooked, not over done at all, whatever glaze they put on it before the pretzel crumbs was light and a little sweet. Kind of reminded me of a BBQ sauce but thinner, lighter and not as sweet. Then you have the pretzel crumbs. They add this crunch to the soft texture of the salmon. Feed me this all day and I'm alright. Their sides were good. Nothing really to write home about. The mac and cheese side was nothing special, the steamed garlic broccoli was perfectly cooked, but not much garlic to it. But then, I love me some garlic. The sides didn't need to be special because he ordered an appetizer. Their deep fried cheese curds. Take me to church and let me Preach! These little fluffy fried cheese curds were so good. The batter light and thin, good, cause it allowed those cheese curds to shine and shine they did! The cheese pulled, just the right amount of melty and yet still together so you didn't have a glob of hot molten lava sitting on your hand because it oozed everywhere. These were cooked light and quick, enough to heat them up and be soft, but still have that pull like a mozzarella would have. And the dipping sauce? Their house made ranch. I'm so burnt out on ranch people, but this. I took the little side of it they gave us home with us. It was that good. I dipped one cheese curd into it because those things didn't need anything to muddy up their flavor or texture. But I took that ranch home and I'll use it for something. We will be back for sure. And we'll make reservations this time. It is a bit far from where we live, but man it is so worth it. Our waitress was amazing too. I always like people with a sense of humor and she had it in spades. She was very personable and if I can remember her name, we'll ask for her next time. Overall, I'm saying, if you like beer, from all over and you like variety, this is the place. If you like great food, this is the place. And, if you happen to be like us and like both, well, I think you know what I'm gonna say. So, call, make your reservations and...
Read moreI'll explain the full details below, but it's long. In short, the service was herendous, we were there for 3 hours and were basically forgotten. The server forgot to put in our food order and her response was to give us a $10 app coupon for our next visit and tell us to come back when it's not so busy. Too bad because I liked the beer and the app I was served. We won't be back. I'd give it less than 1 star because of the experience and the response from the team there.
My husband and I go out once a year, just the two of us, for our anniversary and we decided to go here to celebrate last Sunday. We didn't even mind the drive took us 45 min because we were so excited. I knew what I wanted for apps, my main course, and dessert. We even waited until after the football game so that it wouldn't be as busy. When we got there, we were told since they had a few large tables, there would be a 20 minute wait for just the two of us, we were ok with that and as we waited a few more pairs came in to eat. After about only 15 minutes, they seated us. We waited 20 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink, so I told our waitress we would get drinks and I wanted to put in the apps. I even offered to give her the entire order because I was so excited (explaining we don't get out without the kids much). She said she would come get our order as soon as our apps came and not to worry. Some time later, we were almost done with our first round of drinks and our waters, when another server brought the apps. They were delicious, but not once did our server even check to see if we needed more water, let alone if the food was ok. The staff came and cleared out the app plates when finally I got our servers attention to put in our food order. We ordered another drink each and put in the food for our main course, again I offered to put in my dessert at the same time so save her time. By this time multiple parties had come in after us, gotten their food, and left. Table sizes varried, some couples, and one larger table of 10 or so. The other servers didn't seem to have a problem keeping up. What was noticeable for me though, was that the table that she was serving behind us had multiple rounds of drinks and their meals and were leaving. So after almost 45 minutes I met her eyes to get her to come over, where she asked me if our food came. I told her it had not and asked for the check. She was gone for another 20, when she came back she "apologized" but wasn't clear what occurred. Turns out she forgot to put in our food order and had asked her manager to give us a "free app" for our next visit (up to $10, while a lot of the apps were approx $15), so more like a coupon. She then told us we should come when it's not busy. Needles to say, we left without dinner and spent 3 hours there, and were only checked on 3 times the entire wait. I'm not one to just walk out, so I paid my bill, left the coupon and a tip and went on my way. I can be patient, but I won't be back...
Read moreI took my girlfriend there for valentines day and it was a very unpleasant experience. It started in the morning when I tried to make a reservation and was told they don't do reservations on the weekends. Then we got to the Brown Iron Brewhouse at 3 pm, to ensure there wouldn't be a very long wait. There were about 6 tables open so we asked the waitress if we needed to seat our selves or wait and were told they had a 10 minute wait. So we sat down and waited about 15 minutes for one of the 6 open tables that were open when we got there. We then got seated. I ordered 4 different drinks of the menu and was disappointed to find that they were out of all of them. My girlfriend ordered two drinks and they did have those but she was brought the wrong drink for one of the two. Which put them at 6 drinks ordered and only one delivered. Were not the type to make a stink and most of the frustration wasn't towards the waiter we had. The waiter was good and took care of us.
Finally we got to our food and were again disappointed. We got the pork sandwich and the Reuben. Both were so saturated with grease and water that we just ate the meat off the bun and left the saturated bread.
Finally when we got the bill they tried charging us for all 6 drinks that we ordered. (4 of which we never received) They did fix the bill but it was the final straw for me which is why I am posting my first review on a business.
So disappointed!!! From how packed they always seem we expected an awesome brew house with their own beer and great food. We found just another mediocre bar and future headstone on the graveyard that is van dyke between 26...
