Let me start by saying this was completely a happy accident. My wife and I actually thought this was a taco place. 😂 and they do have absolutely amazing tacos but what I fell in love with was the beef empanada. My waiter Flavio gave me one to sample and it was fantastic!! I immediately ordered three. My wife got some kind of steak sandwich it had onion and was cooked exactly to her liking. My waiter Flavio is nothing short of amazing! This guy is the best! He is very knowledgeable about Latin food and answered all of my questions to my satisfaction. Which really surprised me because it's hard to explain anything to me LOL He was so friendly and attentive it was such a refreshing change of pace from all the restaurants I've been dining at lately. Flavio made me feel like I was the only person in the restaurant. My drink was always full and he was always asking if I needed anything. This is one of the best family-owned restaurants I've been to in a very long time. You can really taste and see the effort that goes into their Latin dishes. I can see their passion in the way they present the food. It's not just thrown on a plate and slid underneath the heat lamp where it sits until somebody feels like grabbing it. My food was hot and fresh and you can taste the pride that went into this meal. My wife and I will definitely be returning and I will be telling everyone how great this place is!! The only thing I have to complain about is the music. But it's not their problem I don't like Latin music. I like me some rock and roll lol 😁 from my family to yours, thank all of you for the great service and excellent meal! See you...

When you sit down, you get a chance to take in the amazing attention to detail and easily tell the owners spared no expense in crafting their dream. Here, you can tell love is put into every dish. Whether it is the delectable appetizers, a great refreshing smoothie, or a hearty delicately crafted main entrée. This establishment does not disappoint.
Our group ordered a wide variety of options from their menu to accurately gauge the caliber of this restaurant. You can't go wrong with any of their options, though personal recommendations are the chicharron/w fritos verde, stuffed tostones, and cuban canini in no particular order. On a side note, the Puerto Rico Flan is a great way to finish off an amazing meal.
Of the over 100 restaurants my group has reviewed, on our spreadsheet this is easily the top 5. The Latin Kitchen has a bright future ahead of itself, I cannot wait to come back!
Taste: 9/10 (Astounding) Price: 4/5 (Better than other comparable restaurants) Service: 5/5 (Out of this world) Vibe: 4.75/5 (Great atmosphere, authentic, family vibe)

Read moreThis was our second time visiting The Latin Kitchen in Shelby Township, and it certainly won't be our last! My wife and I were first introduced to this gem by friends, and we’re so glad they brought us here.
Tonight, we started with a malted India and some water, along with a beef empanada, a shrimp empanada, and a chicken empanada. Each one was absolutely delicious — the empanada shells were perfectly fluffy and crisp, with a light, airy texture. While the beef and shrimp were excellent, the chicken really stood out.
For our mains, we had the garlic shrimp with black beans and yellow rice, as well as the shredded pork with yellow rice, black beans, and both types of plantains — the dry plantains and the sweet ones. Every bite was packed with authentic flavor and perfectly seasoned.
We didn't go for dessert this time, but it's easy to see why this place has a 4.9 rating on Google. The owner was incredibly welcoming and clearly passionate about their food, which made our experience even better.
We’re proud to be customers and will definitely be recommending The Latin Kitchen to friends and family. If you're looking for fantastic Latin cuisine, this is the spot....
