Stepping into First Watch for a recent meal with my friend and wife was an absolute delight. What immediately struck me was how vibrantly full it was, even for a 'Day Bar' – a buzz you usually expect much later at night, perhaps at a bustling steakhouse! Yet, despite the crowd, the atmosphere remained perfectly rustic and wonderfully homey, a true testament to their well-designed space.
The front-of-house staff truly elevated the experience; they were incredibly friendly, with some looking like they could easily grace the pages of a high-end restaurant magazine. Their warmth perfectly complemented the inviting environment.
As a photographer, I deeply appreciate visuals, and First Watch delivers. The rustic backdrops and the overall mood create such a charming scene, making it a truly picturesque spot.
Now, for the food: it was simply delightful. I'm always looking for quality, and the dishes here truly emphasize natural, holistic tastes. I started with the Artisan Doughbread, which was perfectly firm yet soft, and with the natural butter, it absorbed into a buttery, spongy texture – a simple pleasure that spoke volumes about their ingredients.
My main course was their classic Italian-style Omelet, a refreshing change from traditional American versions. It came packed with kale, house-roasted Crimini mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes, all topped with Mozzarella and Parmesan. Since I opted out of the mixed greens, the subtle sweetness of the Lemon-Blueberry Cornbread I had instead was an unexpected, perfect complement. This omelet was incredibly satiating; unlike other egg dishes that often leave me wanting more, this one truly filled me up.
To chase it all down, the seasonal Watermelon Wake-Up fruit drink was a revelation – a cool, refreshing blend of watermelon, pineapple, lime, and mint. The specialty sugar rim added a subtle herbal-fruity combination that rounded out the drink beautifully.
First Watch truly offers a unique and satisfying dining experience. It’s a must-visit for anyone in the Columbus area seeking quality, atmosphere, and a visually appealing place to enjoy a meal. This place genuinely enriches the Google...
Read moreI rarely leave poor reviews for food. As you can see from my many past reviews. I came to this place because of the positive star review and most specifically, eggs Benedict, which is my favorite breakfast food and only get once a year on Mother’s Day. Before my complaint I want to say portion size was decent. The food, picture worthy. Now, This review is based solely on my Eggs Benedict. I ordered the classic. Which is supposed to be toasted English muffin, Canadian bacon (thick cut ham) poached egg and hollandaise sauce. The egg yolk was solid, supposed to ooze when cut. The sauce was overpowered with lemon juice. 3. The “Canadian bacon” was nothing but shaved lunchmeat ham. (I get thicker ham on an egg McMuffin at McDonalds. The “English muffin” was half of an untoasted sub roll. REALLY!! To top it off, had a tomato slice on it. Not supposed to. If you are going to title it CLASSIC—then is should be classic. 4 ingredients—sauce, egg, ham, English muffin. My daughter said her soup and sandwich were delicious. the cheddar bacon cornbread was delicious. And FYI, yes, I paid for my meal because I ate it. Wasn’t what I wanted but still ate it. Too busy to send back “My food” Very dissatisfied Our server was awesome. Even though it appeared to be super busy and full lot we were sat right away. Service was prompt and wait for food was short.
FYI—Almost 3 weeks later and no reply to review, so this place doesn’t care about reviews in order to better their...
Read moreA very nice location with the new format that First Watch is promoting. Open and airy, this recently opened location is supposedly the second-largest in the chain. Open only four days, all of the staff is still excited and anxious to get off to a good start with a new location. The hostess was exceptionally friendly and conversational, while our server was just as engaged and interested in making our visit a success. While we’re big First Watch fans and feel that their staff is generally a cut above the typical restaurant staff, this isn’t always the case; see my review of a Virginia First Watch from a year ago.
My wife tried a daily special offered by our server while I went with a conventional egg white omelette and accompanying sides. As expected, our food was just perfect. The only thing worth nitpicking was my bacon- severely over cooked and obviously left sitting out for a while. I still ate most of it, but normally I would have sent it back. Nevertheless, that minor blip didn’t detract from the overall great experience. This new location is just down the street from where we live and it’s sure to become a regular in...
