Worst customer service! As a loyal customer who comes in every weekend for their pastries and to hold my weekly team zoom meetings as well as meets first dates there for coffee and friendly conversation, I cannot believe the way that I was treated. I was late to a team meeting therefore couldn't order before starting my meetings. The owner approached me and asked if I ordered. I explained to him that I was on a meeting, ran late, and couldn't order anything right away but would order after. He approached a second time as I was on a meeting and ORDERED ME that I had to order. I explained to him I was still in a meeting and would order after I was done. He went on to tell me that I was taking up space and not paying without considering that there were free tables throughout the entire shop and my presence was not a challenge to anyone. Honestly, will never go back to support their business knowing that they only value a human existence if it provides financial gain to them. I order every week from them, shared my love for their pastries with friends from them, just couldn't get in line before the team meeting and wasn't taking up any extra space as there were free tables throughout the business. He humiliated me in front of my team twice, talked to me as if I wasn't a human, and scolded me when I gave my word after being a loyal client for many weekends. Whether I order before the meeting or after the meeting, I would've paid for my 2 hours there at some point. To the owner, a human's existence is not only valuable purely for your financial benefit and you lost customers with the way you treated me this day.
EDIT- 1. I understand that someone will get in cameras to review my interactions and state how incorrect or wrong I am. That is most unprofessional. 2. I understand someone will review my transaction history to make sure I’ve been a paying customer before, please do as I’ve always paid when occupying your establishment. 3. I understand that this franchise will take ZERO responsibility for their actions and that sucks. 4. Most likely they’ll say, “she moved outside so we couldn’t find her.” So before this accusation comes out, as I stated, I was on team meetings and please watch the cameras as I covered my ears many times to hear. Do you think this was the most pleasant environment to take a team call? The answer is no. I was there for my weekly pastry not to use their wifi, as stated. And did I move outside to hear better, yes. Did I have to stay and buy, no? But did I choose to stay so I could buy, yes? Did I have to finish my meetings first that I was actively leading so I could buy, yes? 5. And just to let everyone know even more so, the owner stuck his...
Read moreHello Alice, Yes, I did work for you briefly some time ago, and I must not have tried the matcha during that time. That said, I don't believe prior employment should obligate me to have blind loyalty to a product I genuinely found disappointing. If I were running a café—especially one charging premium prices—I would want honest feedback from customers, particularly when it concerns quality. Whoever is telling you that the matcha is high grade from Japan may be misinformed. The color alone is telling; true ceremonial-grade matcha should be a vibrant, bright green, not the dull brownish-green I received. That level of oxidation typically indicates poor quality or mishandling. My friend tried a sip and immediately spat it out, noting it tasted nothing like real matcha. To be candid, the experience reminded me of the difference between instant coffee and fresh espresso—startling and hard to ignore. I didn’t bring it back or say anything in the moment because I took it to go, and it clearly wasn’t the barista’s fault. But I do hope that rather than dismissing critical reviews, you reflect on them. Feedback—positive or negative—is valuable when it comes from a place of wanting to see improvement. That’s all this was.
I came here hoping for a good matcha, but what I got was one of the worst drinks I’ve ever tasted. The matcha was bitter, grainy, and tasted like it had been sitting in an open container for a year. The color of it was brown green. No depth, no creaminess — just straight-up chalky green water. It was so bad I genuinely questioned whether it was even real matcha or just green food coloring and milk. Not even culinary grade let alone close to ceremonial. For a shop that charges premium prices, this was beyond disappointing. If you're even slightly serious about matcha, do yourself a favor and...
Read moreI've been to this cafe a few times before, but this last experience deters me from coming back. (I would also like to preface this by saying that I always purchase an item from any cafe that I study at out respect for the cafe/business.) A friend and I had purchased a drink from down the street at Starbucks, but we decided to move to Sweetwaters to enjoy the seating area and to buy some pastries also. We had just put our stuff down at the table (I hadn't even sat down at this point) but a manager came up and told us that we would need to get rid of our drinks if we wanted to stay. I would understand if we were staying on their property without purchasing anything from the cafe, but we informed the gentleman we were intending on purchasing bakery items and that we just wanted to secure a table to study at. Then I physically stood in line. However, he still insisted that we "remove our drinks" if we wanted to stay regardless of purchasing items from the cafe. We couldn't justify throwing away perfectly good drinks, so we informed him that we were leaving. He would not leave us alone, watched us as we packed up our belongings, and the entire time just kept saying he can't have other products on his tables at all. To each his own, but I just wish he would have left us alone even when we told him we were leaving... I have not had any problem with customer service in prior instances from any of their other staff. All other staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming in ALL other encounters, so I was just very taken aback by this incredibly uncomfortable experience. I never had an issue previously bringing drinks and purchasing a Sweetwaters item along with...
