I must say at the outset that I am a long-time fan of Wendy’s. I love their Wendy’s triple. That’s probably one of the main reasons I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and weigh more than I should! They’re great, just not great for you. On a Friday night, I did an online order for dinner for my mom and me to be picked up at our neighborhood Wendy’s. The site said that I would receive a confirmation email that never came. It also said the restaurant’s dining room was open until 11 pm. Not true. It took me about 30 minutes to walk to the restaurant, the doors to the place were locked and it was only about 7:15 pm. So I waited for a break in the line of cars to pick up my order at the window. I will mention at this point that I had done this same thing before with no problems whatsoever. After waiting for an additional 15-20 minutes I proceeded to get in line after the car that was at the drive-through window. I had previously noticed that the cars were waiting about 10 or more minutes each to be served at the drive-through window. When the car before me was pulling away I approached the drive-through window and said I was there to pick up an online order. The young lady at the window told me that my order wasn’t done yet and that I would have to get in line. She never bothered to even ask me for my name. Instead, she just gave the excuse that they were short on staff so my order wasn’t ready yet.
What’s the use in ordering online if your food isn’t ready 45 minutes later? I went home in disgust! The following day I called their customer support number and spoke to a nice woman who said they would issue a refund for the order amount of $26.27. She gave me a case number and assured me we would get a refund. Not so fast! A month later, after repeated calls to customer support and what I thought was their district office, no refund. I was put on hold for about 45 minutes each time I called customer support and even tried Wendy’s corporate number and left a message which was never returned. I don’t know about you but the whole purpose of ordering online, whether it be burgers or plumbing supplies, is to have the order ready for pickup when you arrive! Not to be treated rudely by hourly workers and have your dinner plans screwed up! Only after emailing some of their corporate execs did we receive a call promising a gift card. Of course, it didn’t arrive when it was supposed to and wasn’t even for the full amount of our order. And, to top it off, I used it at a Taco Bell and then at a store for some beer. But part of the remaining balance was on hold so I had to use an additional card just to cover the beer. I was never told about this “hidden” requirement of the card. But there is a silver lining to all of this. It’s because of companies like these that I am devoting my writing business to investigative reporting and consumer issues. See...

Dear Fellow Wendy's Customers, Wendy's did not provide an advertised special during the NCAA Tournament, but made up for it in an excellent manner. Details are below. April 5, Saturday Night on National TV, during the NCAA tournament, Wendy's advertized a special price, I think $2.99, for Dave's Double during the NCAA tournament. Today, April 7th, my wife and I went to our local Wendy's for the special, before watching tonight's championship game. Signs were still up showing Dave's Double and NCAA. This store did not know about the Tournament special prices. The attendant tried to get us the special price but it did not come up on her register. Consequently, we paid full price for a Dave's double combo, when we were supposed to get the NCAA Tournament special price. Please provide us a coupon or other adjustment for this error, where a special price was advertized, but we had to pay full price. After supper we went home, and watched the NCAA men's final game, and the "$5 Biggie Bag" was advertised. We were not informed of that special either. We contacted Wendy's Customer Service, and they wanted us to create an account to receive some Wendy's coupons because of the oversight. We tried to create an account, but finally Wendy's sent us the coupons: 3 coupons for Wendy's top items, worth $10 each! Excellent customer...
Read moreI am very disappointed with the Wendy's corporate office. The Wendy's app encourages customers to submit comments regarding Wendy's. I submitted a request to change the Wendy's app and add an additional food item that was missing. I received no response from Wendy's regarding my suggestion. Several weeks later I checked the Wendy's app and found that Wendy's changed the app and used my suggestion. I did not receive any response from the Wendy's corporate office. This includes no letter, phone call, text message or email. They completely ignored the courtesy of giving me credit for using my suggestion. The result may have helped Wendy's sell thousands of this food item on their app! I was very upset and followed up by calling customer care. I spoke with an individual who claimed I would be rewarded with $10 on the mobile app. Not only is this barely a reward for helping Wendy's sell thousands of this food item I never received the $10!! I checked with my local restaurant. The local restaurant manager felt bad about my experience and gave me $10. I hope this wasn't out of his pocket. Wendy's corporate office needs to do a much better job thanking and rewarding their...
