This is a good Thai place. I will have to update this review. I am reviewing based off of 1 visit and 1 dish.
Drunken Noodle: I came during lunch. I ordered drunken noodle. I asked for Thai Spicy. I did not get Thai Spicy but it may be because of my extremely hot palette. The the vegetables were perfect. The noodles were also great. They are the thinner flat noodle versus the thick flat noodle that seem to be very hard to find in the DMV. My beef was good but it did not take much of the flavor from the sauce from the drunken noodle. Some of my pieces were tender while others were tough. The portions were perfect! I don't want the person reading this think that this place is not good because it is. I am giving it three stars because I have had other versions of drunken noodle that I like slightly better. Like I mentioned I love thick noodles. I also have a very spicy and salty palette. Maybe they were light on the dark soy sauce but the sauce seemed to sit in the back ground. I was expecting for it to be more prominent.
Customer Service: I was greeted when I came in. I was sat a table very quickly. My food came out in less than 5 minutes. My water was constantly being refilled. I was in and out very quickly. I was greeted on the way out as well! Customer service here is phenomenal!
I hope to come back and try their...
Read moreI was really disappointed with my recent visit to this restaurant. I ordered the Pad Thai (around $20), but it was overly sweet and just didn’t suit my taste. That alone would’ve been fine — not every dish works for everyone — but the real issue came afterward.
As I was paying the bill, a staff member stood over me and started aggressively urging me to leave a tip. I had only been there for about 15 minutes, didn’t really enjoy the food, and received no real service besides someone dropping off the plate. I politely said, “Maybe next time,” but the staff member wouldn’t let me go and kept pressing and arguing with me in an confrontational way. At one point, the staff even said to me, “Don’t dine in here if you’re not leaving us a tip.” The whole interaction was incredibly uncomfortable.
As a student on a tight budget, I try to be mindful about where I spend and why. Of course, I’m happy to tip when I feel it’s well deserved — but tipping is by no means compulsory. It’s never the customer’s obligation, and no customer should ever be harassed over it.
It’s already unprofessional for staff to directly ask for a tip — let alone do it in such an aggressive way. I really hope the management takes this seriously and trains their staff to treat all customers with basic respect, regardless of whether they leave...
Read moreWhile the food was okay, the service was dreadful. Upon walking in, the staff were dismissive and were not friendly, rather they seemed unwelcoming. Seemed like they rather be somewhere else than there. Don’t see how a negative attitude makes the customers feel welcomed and comfortable.
Mind you business was slow and it still took 20 minutes for my entree to arrive. Food was decent for DC-standards. After checking out, I went to the bathroom and upon exiting the restaurant, one of the staff came to me hastily and asked me directly and rudely for a tip. He said “the check doesn’t include tips.”
Firstly, I am not obligated to tip, especially if the service was dreadful. Secondly, asking me or any costumer for a tip has to be one of the most unprofessional behavior a server can display.
Would not recommend, best take your business to other Asian-cuisine restaurants in the area that display some standard of professionalism, respect, and...
