My recent visit left me deeply moved and appreciative of the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers.
What sets this memorial apart is its powerful ability to convey the honor and respect due to these heroes. The memorial's design is striking, with its graceful architecture and serene setting in the heart of Washington, D.C. It creates a contemplative space that invites visitors to reflect on the selflessness and valor of those who have given their lives in the line of duty.
The memorial's attention to detail is remarkable. The engraved names of fallen officers serve as a poignant reminder of their sacrifice, and the solemnity of the site is both humbling and inspiring. The surrounding walls and walkways are meticulously maintained, creating an atmosphere of reverence and respect.

Read moreLovely tribute and very serene with the included water feature.
My only complaint is not about the memorial, but behavior of individuals in it. A group of teens began filming themselves dancing inappropriately against the wall of names while playing a disgusting song from their phone. One girl was having her photos taken by a boy in front of the names, posing suggestively. They were mocking the officers' deaths.
Visiting with my LEO husband, who was there for a work event, I about lost it. I reminded myself they were minors... and I am not. I made enough of my thoughts known out loud that they stopped taking photos, and temporarily turned their music down, but once we'd exited the memorial onto the sidewalk they returned to twerking, bent over the names of fallen officers as a nearby eldly man bent down to touch the name of someone he'd lost.
So, if anyone finds that video on TikTok, let them know how you feel. This was my first trip to DC and I was impressed with the cleanliness, friendliness, and beauty of downtown and beyond. This was my only...
Read moreI waited many years to visit this memorial and when I finally arrived I have to admit, I was a little let-down. First off, it is located way off the beaten path so to speak and is not easy to find. Second, it looks like any other square until you get close enough to realize what it is. The grounds were unkept with tree debris and random litter here and there. As I sat there thinking about the lives lost in the pursuit of justice and peace, I couldn't help but notice how many people simply walked right past without a thought. Several others used it as a by-way to get to some other location. In short, there's no reverance shown to a place that in my mind, is of equal merit to other memorials that receive far...
