Burrito Brothers is a great little restaurant to grab a bite to eat if you are in a hurry. It is located on Pennsylvania Ave. SE near The Library of Congress as well as many of the other major sites in the DC area!
The Food: They have a breakfast menu as well as a lunchtime menu and when we visited with was it was lunchtime. You can choose anything from a burrito bowls to burritos, tacos to taco salads, quesadillas as well as a range of sides. I ordered a 12" Burrito and to be honest you really have to be hungry for it because it is packed full of food and full of flavour! There is an 8", a 12" and a 14" size to choose from and in my opinion the 12" was super filling even to the point that the 12" could even be shared and you'll still be satisfied. My fiancée ordered a quesadilla with a side of guacamole. I'd actually recommend the quesadilla over the burrito if your feeling peckish but want something that is tasty, flavourful and satisfying!
The Staff: The staff were really friendly and very attentive and pointed out that there was a water tap for free to fill up your water bottle. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the man that served us at the counter but he was very nice!
Location: It is located on Pennsylvania Ave. SE near the back of The Library of Congress building as well as being near many of the other major sites in the DC area! The area was quiet when we visited as it was the 3rd of July in the middle of a work day but I would imagine that it is normally very busy especially at breakfast time or lunchtime.
Layout & Decor: The entrance is at the left hand side as you face the building and as you walk into the recess the door is on your right hand sode. It is a breakfast and lunchtime type of restaurant so it is laid out in a fashion to maximise space for customers to grab and go. However, there are a number of stools along the front window with a bench to sit at as well as a number of stools and a bench along the left hand side of the ordering counter to also sit at. Its worth noting that there isn't any bathrooms. The wall on the right hand side was decorated with some funky art and the counter on the left hand side had a mirror which made the premises feel roomy.
Overall Opinion: Burrito Brothers is definitely a great spot for lunch and if the luch food is anything to go by I assume that the breakfast food is equally as good! They serve delicious burritos and quesadillas with a variety of options to mix and match to suit everyone! I highly recommend...
Read moreComing from San Diego, I have missed a good Southern California style burrito now for several years. Chipotle was good at first, but I can no longer stand the rice-filled burritos. I am starting to feel so completely ripped off and fed up with all these businesses that offer burritos that are more rice than anything else. Visit San Diego and ask for a carne asada burrito and guess what you'll get? You'll get 90% carne asada. Just what the doctor ordered! Then there're places like California Tortilla that have burritos that are supposed to be similar to a California-style burrito, and oh lord are they terribly opposite. So naturally, I was reading the reviews here, and I saw the frequent complaints that a place not named "Chipotle" was not making Chipotle burritos, and I had to try.
Thankfully my girlfriend did the research since I get into bad habits of not going to places lower than 4 stars, and I could've easily ignored this spot. Burrito Brothers doesn't seem to claim anything except that it's a burrito place, and you know what? They make a proper burrito. Some of their items have rice in them, but they aren't substituting the other ingredients to make a huge rice wrap that has only one measly scoop of the meat you requested. I ordered a California Burrito, and I got a proper San Diego Style California Burrito. It was a little small, but I am just so happy that they made it small rather than give me a huge "California Burrito" that was Large because the filled it in with rice. It was a good solid burrito and the green salsa on the bar was the perfect addition to make me feel back at home in SD. Burrito Brothers will be a regular spot of mine for when the cravings come...
Read moreComplaint Regarding Discriminatory and Aggressive Behavior – August 17, 2025 To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding an extremely disturbing experience I had at your Burrito Brothers location on August 17, 2025. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was met with clear discrimination and disrespect by two Spanish-speaking employees. One of them, named Jose, escalated the situation by screaming at me in an aggressive and threatening manner, creating an environment where I genuinely felt unsafe. His behavior was not only unprofessional but also crossed a line into intimidation. When I calmly asked to speak with a manager, Jose refused to provide any contact information or offer a resolution. I was shocked and disappointed by the blatant lack of customer service, accountability, and most importantly, basic human decency. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and needs to be addressed immediately. I expect that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken, and that your company will take steps to ensure that no other customer has to go through something similar. I would appreciate a direct response regarding how this complaint is being handled. Please provide contact information for the store’s general manager or district manager so I can follow up further if needed. I truly believe they don’t like black people this all taking place at Capitol...
