From the moment I stepped through the doors of Compass Coffee, I was greeted by the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a warm, inviting ambiance. The industrial-chic decor, with its exposed brick walls and sleek furnishings, creates a modern yet comfortable setting that invites patrons to relax and enjoy their coffee experience. The menu at Compass Coffee is a testament to their commitment to quality and craftsmanship. They offer a variety of carefully selected coffee beans from around the world, expertly roasted to perfection. Whether you prefer a classic espresso, a velvety latte, or a pour-over brew, Compass Coffee delivers a consistently exceptional cup of coffee. During my visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in their signature blend. The coffee was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced, showcasing the expertise of the baristas. The attention to detail and dedication to quality is evident in every sip, making it a true delight for coffee aficionados. Beyond the coffee itself, the staff at Compass Coffee sets it apart from other coffee shops. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft. They are always ready to offer recommendations, explain different brewing methods, and engage in genuine conversations about coffee. Their warmth and enthusiasm create a welcoming and inclusive environment for customers. The seating options at Compass Coffee cater to different preferences, whether you prefer to sit at the communal tables, cozy up on a comfortable couch, or find a quiet corner to work. The atmosphere is conducive to both relaxation and productivity, making it an ideal spot for catching up with friends, working remotely, or enjoying a quiet moment alone. Another aspect worth mentioning is the commitment to sustainability that Compass Coffee upholds. They prioritize environmentally friendly practices, from their sourcing of ethically grown beans to their use of compostable cups and lids. This dedication to sustainability resonates with many customers, making the coffee experience at Compass Coffee even more enjoyable. And, they got my name exactly right! Doesn't get better than that!

I've been stopping by Compass Coffee on my way to work as it's directly on my route. Really the only rhyme or reason I chose it over the multitude of cutesy coffee houses was convenience. However, their rapid and exact service has cemented my patronage. The coffee has been good, the maple latte is particularly delicious and their Americanos are sublime. Still nothing to whip out my phone and land a review...except this morning...I decided to treat myself for my birthday and spring for the little lemon cake....and what a treat indeed....as a connoisseur of lemon loafs...I can say I have arrived....the frosting is a bed of decadence housing a mouthwatering, moist sponge of succulent sweet cake. The perfect balance of sharp lemon and saccharine. I think my week may have just peaked.

I'm writing to share my disappointment with my recent visit to Compass Coffee,on 11/29/2023 marking my third unfortunate experience. The barista's rude attitude was off-putting, and the coffee didn't meet the usual standards. I suggest addressing the staff's attitude and reviewing the coffee-making process for better consistency and quality. I hope my feedback is helpful for improvement. Sincerely, I ordered two pumpkin spice latte for me and my co-worker. I don’t know what’s in the latte I don’t think it’s pumpkin cuz it doesn’t taste like one.I won’t recommend for anybody to try the pumpkin spice latte or coffee. This is my second time ordering from compass and they got the worst coffee.

I have always enjoyed the effort and skills demonstrated by the baristas at Compass Coffee. I responded to a promotion I received that when I added $25 to my account, I would receive a ten dollar bonus. After I added the $25 dollars my balance remained the same. Being wheelchair bound, I struggled to enter the location at 1401 Eye St. Once I approached the POS, after I looked up, I encountered a new digital display menu that covered three display boards and at no time Did I see a menu or a list of drinks for sale and their corresponding prices. After I placed my order for a small cappuccino, I was unable to use the compass coffee app to pay for my order. The barista guided me through a unnecessarily tedious app that required me to scroll through a seemingly endless collection of drinks before I was able to select a cappuccino, then I needed to change the default size from large to small and by the time I was able to select the proper size through the app, it showed that I was about to place an order for two small cappuccino drinks, requiring me to remove one before I could complete the transaction. After I received my drink, the barista provided a well formed very short splash guard that was less than an inch long, as opposed to other Compass Coffee competitors. This facility would be much more accommodating and welcoming if an automatic door were installed allowing disabled users to enter and to exit the facility and if the prices and menu items were constantly on display so a visitor can see the offerings and prices in a menu setting when standing at the POS instead of waiting for prices to possibly be displayed...

Compass Coffee is disputably DC's best coffee and indisputably the most expansive. Originating in Shaw, Compass continues to expand across the District including downtown. In recent years, they have opened several locations in downtown DC, but they are smaller shops designed for coffee on the go. That changed with the Eye Street location.

This downtown location of Compass is spacious. Yes, it's designed for people who want coffee on the go having cash registers at each end of the coffee bar, but the many tables and two secret nooks of tables proves they encourage people to stay awhile. They make it easy with strong, free wifi.

The menu itself is large. They have drip coffee in different roasts, specialty drinks from a nutella mocha to seasonal drinks. Their pastry shelves are full of croissants, kolaches, breads and their refrigerators stocked with yogurt, sandwiches, and other quick eats.

The service is fast, efficient, and friendly and the prices are more affordable than other coffee shops (my quality latte was less than $4!).

While other non-local coffee shops (I'm looking at you, NYC's Gregory's) are trying to hold a monopoly on downtown coffee, local Compass is already...
