I recently visited Dacha in Shaw, and while I’ve always appreciated its vibrant atmosphere and great drink selection, my latest experience left me disappointed, particularly with the food quality. Let's start with the positives: the drinks are still adequate. The cocktails are decent and the imported beer selection is expansive, making it a great spot for day drinking or night out. However, when it comes to the food, it feels like the kitchen was having an off day on April 13, 2025. Unfortunately, the dishes we ordered fell flat. The eggs in the Benedict were overcooked; I was looking forward to that perfect runny yolk, but instead, I got a dry, under-seasoned rock. The potato pancakes, serving as the base of the Benedict, were dense and tough. Overall the dish was a letdown, especially as it is a standard brunch item. The ahi tuna bowl was under seasoned and the tuna had a mild fishy taste. Not what you would expect from fresh ahi. The fried pickles were another disappointment—hard and lacking in seasoning. The watermelon feta salad was a struggle to enjoy. The watermelon was overripe and mushy, with hardly any feta to be found. The only exception to the underwhelming food was the pretzel, which was, thankfully, soft and salted well. If you're just looking for a drink and a light snack, the pretzel is a solid choice. In summary, while Dacha has great atmosphere, I can't recommend it for a full meal. I hope they can return to the quality I once loved.

I love beer gardens and have to say this is one of my favorites. The food is great, and service seems to be fast even when they're really busy. Gotta love drinking out of a boot! Bathrooms are large so there's never a line which is great even on a super busy night. Have to admit though-the prices are high even for Washington DC, and including gratuity is totally bogus. I don't tip under 20% as long as you don't kick my dog, but adding mandatory gratuity to a 2 drink order is regressive especially for a European themed joint, come on guys you can do better than that. Also, customers should know that when they say last call, they mean it. Be ready to vacate the premises immediately before closing. I understand it's obnoxious dealing with drunk theives trying to abscond with your glassware all night but it's a bit much. If it's an issue with locals whining and trying to get the place shut down because of noise violations I guess their policies are understandable though. Do yourself a favor and grab one of their pretzels even if no one at your table is hungry. After a boot or two, you'll all be glad to grab a bite!

❗️Be aware❗️ -15% service charge (tip) will be automatically charged.

Beer, food location and atmosphere were all great. But I dont think Ill go back to this restaurant for these reasons though.

I realized that I double tipped them after paying. They automatically charge you 15% tip (service charge). Is this legal even? Why would they charge me tip w/o my consent?

They dont show you paper check (only portable register) before you pay (so you can not really see what you were charged for) also they dont inform you about that at all.

So I was already charged 15% tip and I put extra 20% on top of it. I asked them paper receipt befoee I leave because the final check didnt seem right and Im glad I did. If I didnt check the receipt, I would never know. This is really shady.

Paying servers isnt my job at all. But Im still trying to be nice by tipping servers everywhere I go but I feel like Im scammed by this restaurant though. This is really annoying. They better notify customers about tip before they check the customers out.

I left this place earlier than I planned becase of our aggressive server. Our server asked us if we need to order anything else more than 15times(no joke) while we were staying (only about 2hrs). She kept coming back and asking us if we want to order more beer or food while beer and food that we ordered were still more than half left... almost like pushing us. we've ordered 2 food, 5 beers and wanted to stay longer but we decided to leave since she made us pretty uncomfortable. Are servers here getting paid by commission or...

If you've ever spent time in Germany, this is your spot in Washington, D.C. It's a large outdoor (don't worry- they have plastic walls and heaters during the winter) beer garden in Shaw NW. Chill is their vibe. You seat yourself and when you're ready, go to the large bar and order your food and drinks. A server will bring it out to your table when it's ready.

The space itself is very German with lots of wood everywhere. There's large spaces for groups to enjoy, bar seating, smaller bar tables, and long wooden picnic tables.

The drink menu is HUGE! Most of their drinks are on tap, but they do have bottles, etc. If you don't love beer, I'm happy to report they have two ciders on tap. One is a dry cider and one is sweeter (Bold Rock's rose cider). Both come in a Dacha Beer Garden glass that people love so much they steal them (there's a sign at the exit asking that you don't take the glasses with you). They also sell drinks in a large glass boot!

The food is good too! They have a bar food menu as well as entrees. My buddy and I ordered the $24 "sausagefest." It comes with a variety of sausages, potatoes, bread, mustard, and sauerkraut. It was filling and tasty!

They also have TVs above the bar that play European soccer!

Dacha Beer Garden has become so popular that they now have a second floor event space and a cafe next door. It's...
