When I think of what a coffee shop should be, this specific Greenberry's fits the bill. The music plays faintly in the background, enough to hear it but not loud enough to drown out your voice while trying to speak to others and not loud enough to distract you if you need to do serious studying. (I can't count the number of times I've been to Starbucks on E street or in the Gelman library and taken an about face minutes after walking into the store because of the dance club level volume that those coffee shops play music at.) This is a GREAT place for GWU students who want a study spot in the neighborhood and are tired of not finding a seat in the Starbucks closer to campus. This cafe not only feels spacious due to its lay out but has a lot of space for fellow students to have out a laptop, books, etc, without feeling cramped. Come here if you are sick of being packed like a sardine into the tiny chairs and tables available at other local coffee shops. It's a bit of walk in comparison to the coffee shops closer to GWU campus but I can say without a doubt that you will get way more studying done here than if you tried studying at the other coffee shops in this neighborhood. Finally, the staff are extremely friendly, including the owners. On the numerous occasions that I have gone here, the owners have personally greeted me, asked how I was doing, and made me feel very welcome. I loved the ambiance and peaceful environment -- exactly what a coffee shop should be. PS the liquid nitro...

The environment is spacious and inviting, there’s plenty of seating, (because trust, the line gets long especially during the morning rush) but despite the line almost to the door, the cashier remained patient, attentive, and treated each new customer with hospitality, which is greatly appreciated. I got the avocado toast (you’d think it couldn’t go wrong but it can.) thankfully, they have this recipe down pact with hearty seasoned avocado, and the perfect toast to match the consistency. I’m a coffee snob, so of course I ordered a classic cappuccino. It was absolutely perfect. The barista clearly knows what their doing with espresso dialed in to perfection. Combined with the skilled execution of milk and foam, with the classic ratio of 1/3 espresso, 1/3 milk, and 1/3 foam? When I tell you, I was in heaven. (I’ll attach the latte art!)
I definitely recommend. I will definitely tell all my friends.
Thank you to all the staff that worked on April 10th. You made my morning in DC something...
Read moreStopped in here after a very long drive for some breakfast and coffee. Ordered a vanilla and cream cold brew and the Farm Fresh breakfast sandwich. Service staff up front were nice enough, but after I ordered my coffee they forgot to make it. I had to go back up after many others received their coffee and I got my food to ask them to make my coffee.
Coffee was good, nothing special but I liked it. The real reason I am giving them a poor review is for their food and kitchen service. After receiving my sandwich, I noticed it had only 2 diced sautéed onions, 1 piece of diced pepper, and 1 piece of diced tomato. I returned the sandwich, asking for them to add more on it, and the kitchen came back 30 seconds letting telling me there was already stuff in there. I complained again and the kitchen just slapped a few pickled onions (not the right ingredient) on the sandwich. I was starving so I just ate it, but I did not appreciate the service by the kitchen staff, they clearly did not care, nor did the sandwich have half of what it was supposed to on it....
