My teenage son and I go on a trip together every summer. This year we went to Washington DC and stayed at the State Plaza hotel. The hotel is in a quiet part of the city, yet it's close enough to get to the sites. Some of the sites are spread out so no matter where you stay you still end up doing a lot of walking. I believe the WWII Memorial was the closest site to this hotel. Most times that we walked we ended up passing through it. The hotel is very clean, quiet. The staff wasn't overly friendly, but when you talk to them or need assistance, they were great. I think being in DC everyone is just quieter than they would be elsewhere. We noticed this when we rode Uber too. No one spoke to us unless we spoke to them. We had a room with 2 Double beds, the room also had a nice sized closet, safe, a bathroom with an adjoining dressing room, which was nice because someone could be using the bathroom while someone else was getting dressed or doing their hair in the dressing room. The beds were very comfortable and had a lot of pillows which I loved because I usually have to request more pillows. Housekeeping was great and cleaned our room every day, which has become rarer these days. There is a full kitchen, which we didn't use but I could have seen this as something nice if you have younger kids because you could store whatever you needed in the kitchen for snacks or breakfast. The room also came with 2-3 water bottles everyday which was wonderful because it was very hot while we were in DC. We used every bottle of water left for us. There is a restaurant at the hotel that only serves breakfast. This was a nice feature for us because if we were low on time and wanted some breakfast it was easy to get. The staff at the restaurant was friendly and service was quick. It was not fancy, but if you wanted something hot and quick it was great to have it there. It was all a la cart. No breakfast buffet. If you wanted something fancier or a brunch, then I would recommend Founding Farmer's the Foggy bottom location which is a 10 min walk from the hotel or Duke's Grocery which is also about 10 mins. There is also a restaurant called Tonic that is closer, but it was closed when we were there. Not sure if this is permanent or not. |One thing to note about this hotel, if you decide to stay here. There are 2 buildings for this hotel. One is on E street and the other is on F street. The buildings look exactly the same. The 1st night we were there we came back at night and went into the wrong building. We went to our floor, and we could not find our room. One of the maintenance people told us that there were 2 buildings and then told us how to get back. Make sure you know which building you are in, so this doesn't happen to you. This is something I wish the staff would have told us when we checked in. Since we are not from the area it can be very confusing. |Overall, our stay here was very good. I would recommend staying here if you are coming to the DC area and want...
Read moreA surprisingly nice hotel in a great location with excellent service at a very reasonable cost!
My wife and I stayed here because it is close to our daughter's apartment. The facility overall is immaculate. Well maintained and clean. It has a small restaurant, gym and even a parking garage for guests (that we didn't use, but was amazingly clean and well cared for).
The room we stayed in was spacious and had a small, but full kitchen (four burner gas range, full size refrigerator and sink). There was even a thoughtfully placed bag of ice in the freezer.
The bedroom featured a king size bed with lots of walking space. There was also a room next to the bathroom for drying your hair and such. The bathroom was fairly recently redone in the art deco style of the building and while somewhat small was functional especially with the dressing room next to the bathroom as mentioned above.
Location was excellent. 15 minute walk to the National Mall and exhibits such as the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial and others. It is also only about a 10 minute walk from the Foggy Bottom Metro station and Whole Foods.
The cost was reasonable and the service was excellent....
Read moreI arrived at this hotel on October 29, 2025, in the morning. I have to say I am more than satisfied. In fact, I'm not giving it more stars because there aren't any options, but this hotel deserves even 10. POSITIVE: EVERYTHING. Especially:
1). The lovely welcome at reception from Mr. Kibrom and Laura. 2). Their flexibility in letting me check in early. 3). The hotel lobby is comfortable, modern, and beautiful. 4). The cleanliness, beauty, and practicality of the room (it had everything). 5). The hot water worked perfectly. 6). The friendliness of all the staff, including the cleaning staff (polite and smiling ladies). 7). The hotel's proximity to the main attractions.
Thank you, truly. Thank you because it's important for us tourists to be treated well in hotels and, above all, to be so warmly...
