I have ordered from them so many times and everything is normally fine... I live three blocks away from them but as a law students I very rarely have the time to go down and pick up my food. Today, I ordered a salad and breadsticks while studying for my final exams and not only did it take them an hour and half to get me my food but when it got here my garlic bread was cold and there were no utensils for my salad. Now mind you I go to school ONE block away from them. When I called the hostess said that it normally takes 45 mins to deliver the food. I told her it took almost an hour and half she made me wait 3 hours to talk to the manager. I finally called back myself and the manager was SO RUDE! Not only did she hang up on me and tell LIE and say that it was "accident" and she was getting ready to call back, but she questioned literally EVERYTHING I claimed. She said that in her system my food took 48 minutes to get to me (again one block away). I told her that I had the confirmation emails from her own system that I would be happy to send her that did NOT support that fact. She ignored me. Then she said that the never give out utensils with their food (was I supposed to eat with my hands?!). Finally when I said I wanted my money back because I had to order from somewhere else because I couldn't eat it... she told me THREE HOURS LATER that she would send the driver to come pick up the food so I could get a refund! I had thrown it away but you better believe that I picked it out of the trash can put it in their plastic bag and am now waiting for the driver to pick the food that I got THREE HOURS AGO! watch that driver is not even going to come... Save your money and eat somewhere else because if ANYTHING goes wrong you're going to be treated...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I were in DC for the weekend for a family event. This restaurant was a three minute walk from our hotel, so we decided to dine there.
The food was great! We both ordered a 10" pizza. The thin crust is a perfect mix of crispy and the outside and chewy in the inside. The cheese was amazing. The sauce was a great accent. My girlfriend also had veggies on hers.
The staff was very friendly and the place was very hospitable.
Our second night in DC, my girlfriend wanted to eat at the Thai place next door, while I wanted to try another selection from the pizza kitchen menu. We called both places and asked if it would be okay for the two of us to share one of their patio tables even though one of us was ordering from the restaurant next door. The Thai place said no. The pizza place said since we asked first it was okay, but we'd have to sit at one of the tables in the corner.
I am very grateful to the staff at the Italian Pizza Kitchen for being so accommodating and hospitable.
I had the Mac and Cheese, which was good, and the bread sticks, which were very good.
I highly recommend this place for both the food and the...

Mind you, I’m an American, and not from Italy. But there is just something about a perfectly balanced combination of bread, sauce, and cheese that really sings.
Our family started off with garlic bread, which was the first indication that this was going to be a delicious meal. And the marinara sauce… oh my! I need this homemade recipe because it is so good.
We also ordered a cheese slice of pizza, a pepperoni slice of pizza with a starter of French fries, and a custom 10” pizza (garlic sauce, original crust, bacon and basil toppings). Kid also got a Fanta Orange soda. (The pictures of the individual slices of pizza are misleading: that’s the same plate as the 10” pizza plate. Those slices are huge!)
A little pricy. It’s November 2024, and the total came out to $55.77 before tip. Now I didn’t notice they put on a gratuity of 20% when they rang it up, so I ended up tipping extra. In the end though, worth the money!
Photo note: the cheesy garlic bread is only one piece. It’s about six times as big. We forgot to take photos until it was...
