There was one person ahead of me who ordered one drink. The girl then took an order over the phone while I waited. I then was able to order one drink. The person in front of me got their drink immediately. The group behind me with a complicated order got their drinks before me. I waited after ordering for 15 minutes just for them to pour matcha powder and milk together. The poor teenagers making drinks were taking customer compliant calls over the phone and stopped making drinks. Their adult manager just stood there and stared at the teenager taking the customer's compliant phone call and also did not help to make drinks. The manager did nothing to manage staff or help them in any capacity. After the phone call that the adult watched the teenager handle, the adult manager just laughed and walked away. As an adult, it is your job to mentor younger staff while keeping the business running. I asked for a refund because they forgot my order at that point and I just wanted to leave. They then made my drink. The poor teenagers were apologetic which is appreciated but it's not their fault their adult manager does nothing. Also a customer who came in way after me who got their drink already had the audacity to say I just needed to learn to wait after other customers. I had only bought a drink to use the restroom to begin with. In summary, get a manger who manages and is willing to support their staff. The customers have bad vibes so I personally wouldn't have a drink here...

The snob is in the area sometimes and though they would try this out due to the extreme lack of real coffee shops north of Tacoma toward the peninsula. This shop is in a great location with a nice patio and a great vibe. Lots of seating, cool decoration and a bar with large windows to study at. They even have a nice La Marzocco machine. As a snob, I was initially disappointed by the Caffe D’Arte beans they use, which are probably much less fresh and much darker than small local roasters like Olympia Coffee Roasters. I ordered a cappuccino which came in an 8 or 10 oz cup which was too large. The cappuccino was a classic cappuccino with solid foam on top, but as a snob, did not meet the standard for a modern cappuccino with high definition latte art. Maybe it was just that barista. The taste was pretty bad, tasted under extracted, probably too fast of a shot due to improper grind size. There is hope however, if the owner is reading this, I love your shop, you have a great machine and tons of potential. Change your beans and your cappuccino mugs to 6 oz and get all your baristas together for a few hours each week just a couple times to practice proper shot extraction and latte art, and your reviews and business will go through the roof. If you paired that with pastries and bread from Saboteur in Manette, there will be a line out your door. So 3 stars for now, make some tiny adjustments and the snob will frequent along with...
Read moreIf you’re new to Washington state like us, you’ll learn that Washington offers a variety of coffee shops because being the birthplace of Starbucks, you’d expect nothing less. However we’ve found the majority of coffee shops in our area are drive-thru huts…which is great but not what my husband and I personally prefer. Luckily we discovered Johnny’s!! Not only are they open early, but every time we’ve visited, we’re welcomed with a friendly greeting and delicious coffee. What sets Johnny’s apart from the rest is their consistency with great coffee, the combination of rustic and electric decor, and they’re one of the few shops around who offer a large area to work, read, or just relax. Often times it’s nice to get away from home to finish homework or remote tasks and Johnny’s offers the space to do so! We recently purchased one of their baked goods and it was like biting into a fluffy pillow! So tasty! If you’ve been searching for a place that offers a wide selection of coffee, delicious baked goods, and a quiet yet inviting atmosphere to work or socialize, this would be my recommendation for all things aforementioned! ☕️
