Blazing Onion — Restaurant in Washington

Last night, 12/19/22, was the first time I've been back to Blazing Onion. My hubby and I were there a few weeks after they initially opened, excited that there was a new fresh eating place in our area! To recap, I was not doing reviews back in the day. I had ordered a salad; unfortunately, I can't remember which one that was or if that salad is still being offered. Nonetheless, our server brought it to me, plated lovely. As I started mixing up the salad, I noticed several pieces of badly discolored lettuce. As I pulled them to the side, more dark pieces started appearing, so I showed the server; she was in disbelief and embarrassed, very apologetic, and offered to have a new one made; I agreed.

Here's the problem: the manager brought me a salad that took over thirty minutes to get to me and was way worse than my first salad; most of the lettuce was slimy with a bad smell, and yes, the manager presented that to me and disappeared. Our server re-appeared and was shocked; what could she say other than "I'm so sorry, and I'll be taking that off your ticket".

FAST FORWARD to last night. It was myself, my hubby, and my cousin dining out; we decided it was time to try them again. Although the food was a little better overall, my Impossible burger was beautiful, but the "meat" was overcooked to almost burnt, as was my hubby's chicken sandwich. My cousin had fish and chips, she liked the fish and chips, but the coleslaw had a lot to be desired. I took a bite of her coleslaw and still can't figure out what seasoning they put into it, but it wasn't good at all.

Although our server, Christine R., was friendly enough, she did not bring me silverware for my salad or ask my party if they wanted any condiments; I had to seek her out twice.

So, that said, the bar area appeared clean, with no sticky menus, tables, or floors. The lady's restroom was acceptable but not perfectly clean.

Perhaps we went on a bad night, doubtful we will return for a long time, and all I can suggest is if you are curious, give them a try; your luck may be better than ours ;)

So we tried getting in here when they first opened and couldn't get through the door. They were jammed full. We finally decided to go ahead and try again several years later and we got right in. There was virtually nobody there. (Sunday early evening) We were greeted up front and were offered seating at the bar. We asked for somewhere outside the bar and we were told that it would be no problem, but we had to order and pay at the counter before we would be seated. Well having never been there before we didn't know what we wanted yet so we went to the bar. I was kind of turned off by the seating situation there. I ordered the onion burger with fries and it was just OK. The onions didn't have much flavor to it, so they pretty much just gave the burger a strange consistency but not much more. The burger itself was cooked nicely with just a bit of pink in the middle. My wife's was as well. Personally I prefer it that way but my wife likes it cooked all the way through. So all in all I would say our visit was mediocre. Not bad but definitely nothing spectacular either. If you read my other reviews of places I'm not hard to please, and I give more good reviews than bad. But this place was just kind of meh. Maybe the seating situation was because of covid and not being able to find employees, I don't know. But they should also be asking how people prefer their meat cooked as well. We will probably end up going here again at some point, hopefully it was just an off day for them. But there's a lot of different places to eat close by, so this wouldn't be my first choice. My first visit was excellent, I bragged it up and brought more people, it was really good, not excellent. 3rd time good. Gave it 3 more try's. First 3 times outstanding service but non consistent product except burgers. 4rth time we had to ask for things like condiments, water, napkins, more coffee. 5th time service much better but french onion soup was served with an overdose of acidy worshtersire sauce like they served the base with no dilution. Awful. Today sixth time, tired hung over looking wait person. Bad service, forgetful with 4 common sense items. They left all the seeds in the jalepeno poppers which was painfully burning, salty french onion soup with mushy soggy bread, old coffee, not one refill. The one that had a burger said it was great but it fell completely apart by second bite. We are not exited about going back. Not busy at all but had to summons help. Seems it's safe to have a burger here though. Update heard they have improved so 12/ 2018 were going to try them again. UPDATE!! Saturday May 25th 2019. Excellent service, Awesome cook took time to crisp up bacon on the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers to perfection and he delivered them!! Waitress full of smiles with friendly efficient service. Awesome Blazing onion burger! Great job, huge improvement! Really impressed...
