What is Ulta? It is a store that offers everything for grooming. Ulta offers some lower end and higher end cosmetics, shampoos, lotions, fragrances, etc. Ulta also offers a variety of salon services. Some people know this, some people don't. I, myself have shopped at Ulta a hand full of times, but have not endured what they could or couldn't do with my hair or skin, for that being said I am unable to provide any opinion on those treatments. My last visit to Ulta was just a couple of days ago; I wasn't greeted as I walked in, but in the past times I have shopped there I was never greeted walking into Ulta, so perhaps they don't do that. I went in there looking for a specific item, come to find out fifteen minutes later (from an employee I had to seek out) most companies are veering away from the "eye pencil" style of eyeliners, ack! This means I have to retrain myself to use liquid liner, pen liner, cream liner, automatic gel pencils, eyeshadow eyeliner, and so on. Enough about that, choices of makeup was endless (except for eye pencil eyeliners) I felt like a kid in a candy store, a really LARGE candy store, I am reasonably sure if you can't find what you are looking for at Target or Walmart you probably can find it here. The store was reasonably clean, except for the "sample" areas, a few of those spots should have been tidy up a little more. The two employees I saw and interacted with were friendly, But I only saw the two, one employee stocking that I sought out earlier about the eyeliner and then the other employee that checked me out at the end. However, no one came to me and asked to help me or if I needed help. I do appreciate the fact that I had no one hovering over me and trying to get me to purchase a bunch of product that I didn't need, but I would have liked someone to of approached me with the normal "If there is anything you need, let me know." The bottom line is that Ulta is a great one-stop shop for your beauty needs, but go in there preparing to purchase a couple of items more, unfortunately, its the vicious cycle we play, especially if we see something we have been interested in trying and notice a sale. I haven't taken time to compare prices between different retail stores, the few items I looked at seemed to have similar pricing at other stores, but I can't say for sure. Ulta beauty location is at The Trails in Silverdale, so there is ample parking, clean parking lot, several other stores to shop through and places to eat. I purchased an Urban Decay 24/7 glide on eye pencil eyeliner waterproof at Ulta, before that I purchased at another retailer a Milani Stay put waterproof eye liner and a Hard Candy stroke of gorgeous 12hr water proof all in black color, all three eyeliners are eye pencil types and three hard to sharpen because of how creamy soft the eyeliner tips are, all three eyeliners have had tips to break off causing me to have to resharpen the pencil, they are so soft they need to be put in the freezer for a couple minutes. All three eyeliners are waterproof and seem to go on all about the same, UD eyeliner didn't smear or flake as much throughout the day; but is the cost of $22 worth less flaking...
Read moreI recently received service at the ulta hair salon this past Sunday I was a bit skeptical about booking mainly because of my hair texture and wasn’t sure if the worker were knowledgeable enough on black hair. I decided to stick it out because I needed a bit of a confidence boost if you will. When I met with the hairstylist Lizzy she made it seem like she knew what she was doing. At the shampoo bowl I asked Lizzy if she ever worked on black hair before, Lizzy told me that she have and sounded very confident. Unfortunately I don’t believe that to be the truth.
When Lizzy started to blow dry my hair I immediately knew she didn’t know what she was doing. With black hair, it’s best to section the hair first and then detangle from the ends and work your way up to the roots. Lizzy did not do that; she immediately started blowing drying my hair without detangling it. I also noticed Lizzy was using the wrong attachment for my hair while blow drying, I then spoke up and asked if she had a small round brush to help straighten my hair. After blow drying my hair was still curly with shrinkage. Lizzy then proceeded to flat iron my hair.
The whole time lizzy was trying to detangle my hair and kept doing so starting with the roots. And if you work with black hair, then you would know that’s an incorrect way to detangle our hair. After the services and when I finally saw my hair I wanted to cry right then and there. At no point in time did Lizzy stopped her self and said she wasn’t the right person for this job. Lizzy continued doing my hair while having incorrect knowledge on how to handle black hair. Once I paid for the service I literally ran out of ulta crying because of the terrible job that was done. My hair was completely ruined and also butchered (she trimmed my hair with my permission but again did so incorrectly) so much the point where I was forced to cut my hair all off. I received no apology from Lizzy after my hair was “done”, nor any...
Read moreI was in here today and had a very negative experience. We’re on vacation and my daughter needed some foundation because she’d run out, so we stopped in to pick some up.
It’s the holidays so it’s busy, and that’s fine. The problem for me began when I went to checkout. The cashier asked if I’d like to open an ULTA account. I politely declined and explained that we’re from out of town and don’t have a location near home.
She proceeded to try and sell me on the benefits of joining, a second time, which honestly is also understandable. I worked retail and we were rated on how many credit card signups we sold, so I’m sympathetic to the pressure retail workers are under. It’s tough. So I let her try to sell me on it c the politely declined again. I shared my retail work experiences, and said I know they’re under pressure to ask everyone, but sincerely I do not want to sign up.
She again tried to sell me on the signup. I again declined, and asked if it was even possible to make my purchase without signing up? That question wasn’t answered, but now a second employee was there to also try to sell on signing up. If I was in a hurry to make an appointment it would’ve almost been funny, but it wasn’t. The people waiting in line behind me didn’t think it was fun waiting either. It felt a lot like being at a car dealership, lol.
This went back and forth a few more times, I really wanted the buy the foundation, but ultimately because they wouldn’t let me purchase without a signup I said if you won’t ring me up I’m going to leave. They didn’t, so I left. They made faces while I left too, as if I’d been unreasonable, rather than realize they’d overstepped.
Ultimately this flows from management/corporate. If employees are feeling that much pressure to sell something so hard they’ll end up losing a sale then something is out of balance. I shouldn’t need to give my phone number other information in order to buy some...
