Quick Sushi Stop before Flight
I recently dined at Matustake Sushi, and it served as a convenient spot for a quick bite before my flight. The overall experience had its ups and downs.
Order Details: Salmon Sushi ($9) Pork Katsu Curry ($19) Tempura Udon ($18)
Pros: Matustake Sushi is a good option for a fast meal before catching a flight. The service was quick, allowing me to enjoy my meal without feeling rushed. The food was served promptly, and I appreciated that aspect, especially when time is limited before a flight.
Cons: One of the main drawbacks was the lack of privacy in the seating area. The restaurant felt cramped, and it was challenging to have a quiet meal due to the airport's bustling atmosphere. Additionally, I found the prices to be on the higher side for the quality and portion size.
Overall Impression: Matustake Sushi provided a suitable option for a pre-flight meal, considering its location within the airport. While the food was decent, the limited seating privacy and higher prices were notable downsides. I might consider returning for the convenience, but it's important to be aware of the...
Read moreI can't say I enjoyed my visit here. I remember stopping by once a few years back and had enjoyed the experience. Was looking forward to coming again and enjoying a nice meal before going onto my next stop.
But I can't say this time around the overall experience was stellar. It seems the quality of service and food has gone down.
I ordered a sushi roll and a bowl of ramen. The sushi roll was okay for the most part but seemed to lack the flavor I was expecting. As for the ramen it seemed like a downgrade from what it used to be. The noodles tasted very cheap and rubber while some of the toppings felt off putting. (overboil eggs and veggies that didn't sit right with me).
Then as for service, I got sat at a table that felt like it hadn't even been cleaned before I was placed there. Sticky with bit splattered around. Then I felt pressured into providing a tip even though for the person that served me I only talked to a total of twice in the process of sitting down, ordering and then finishing my meal.
Overall the experience was very...

When the bill came, the staff leaned in way too close — almost hovering — and stared directly at my receipt as I was deciding on the tip. It felt like I was being watched and pressured, with zero privacy. When I tried to choose a custom tip amount, she cut me off and said, “People usually just give 18%,” without even letting me finish. It honestly felt like mafia-style pressure, and I’ve never felt so uncomfortable or disrespected at a restaurant before.
As for the food — my brother liked the curry, but the sushi roll portion was shockingly small. Like, embarrassingly small for the price.
This experience left me feeling upset and even a bit shaken. I hope management takes this seriously, because no one should be made to feel intimidated or cornered while simply trying to pay for their meal.
I was so uncomfortable that I just handed her $10 in cash to end the situation (the bill was $43 after tax, even though the service...
