Unfortunately, while trying to return to NC from DC, I went to the wrong airport and missed my 9am flight. I was able to get another one same day at 4pm. Once I finally got to DCA, I was hungry. I went to my gate and was fortunate to be close to some eating establishments. I looked at what was offered and ultimately chose here to pig out before starting my diet back.
Grille District is in Terminal C by gates 15+. They had a menu posted right outside the entrance, which was great. The host allowed my son and I to choose our seats. We initially sat at a large 4 person table for space but moved to 2 person table that had an socket so I could charge my dying phone.
After sitting in new seat, the server changed. My kid wasn’t hungry and I knew what I wanted. The waitress came over promptly and I ordered at 2:39pm. I got wings sweet Thai Buffalo wings as an appetizer and the 2 hands burger (minus coleslaw and pickles). The burger comes with chips but I replaced it with sweet potatoes fries, which is an up charge of $3. Burgers and fries go together so I’m not sure why it cost more to have fries over chips…. But I really didn’t need all this food but i start my diet tomorrow and want to enjoy one more day lol. I initially ordered us waters, which came at 2:41pm.
The food came around 2:48pm. I then ordered an alcoholic beverage: Half and Half. Honestly, I was disappointed with it for the price it was. It tasted like there was no alcohol at all and was small. I wouldn’t recommend. The wings were good but not exactly what I was expecting. Since it said Sweet Thai, I was under the impression that was regular wings with the sauce. However, it’s both. I could take the mild spiciness of the Buffalo flavor. It was good, but just expected. Also, the wings are like mini chicken tenders. There is no option for bone in. The fries were tasty and so was my burger. I got full and took a pics of burger and 3 wings on the plane to which my son got hungry and ate.
Overall, it was like $50 for the food. I mean, it’s airport food so it was expected. There was another place I was going to go but was more focused on cocktails, didn’t have much seating, and had a limited food menu. However, the prices were somewhat better. If I were in the area again and needed...
Read moreConsidering they have a captive audience I'm simply hoping upper level management will see this. We just wanted a drink. The bar was full and although there was a sign that said "Please wait to be seated" there was no server or hostess at the stand. We made our way to the back to a 2 top next to the bar (in the bar area). A girl named Melissa came from the back, where she was flirting with a coworker and asked "are u gonna sit at the bar or the table?" And my husband responded "there are no seats at the bar".. She then cocked her head sideways and her nostrils flared and said "are u gonna sit at the bar or the table?" Again, my husband said "there are no seats at the bar". She, as if we didn't answer her proceeded to ask the question AGAIN. So my husband said, "at the table". She left and returned with menus. I was already abt to order drinks at the bar so I said "we don't need menus" and she snapped back saying we couldn't sit at a table if we were ordering from the bar. Now, i work in the service industry and understand how it works, my assumption was the small 2 tops were part of the bar. I immediately asked to speak to a manager and of course melissa ran, told her side of the story and sent him to us. His (Chico) first sentence was "u can't order from the bar and sit at the table"..... not, hi, how u doing. Not, my name is chico the manager. Not, how can I help u.... after I quickly explained what happened he was apologetic, and promptly retrieved our drinks and charged us. But, this was ridiculous and uncalled for. Someone needs to train their...
Read moreI never write reviews but my experience at this restaurant was not even at the ok standard (especially coming from someone who works in the industry). Food was good, but the service I experienced and witnessed from other tables was sub par. My waitress asked for my order and drink and that’s about all I saw of her besides for payment and dropping the items off. When she dropped off my cocktail I asked for water and she looked at me then walked away. I went without water the whole meal. Once the food came I noticed other people never received their water or the gentleman next to me even received the wrong meal and how it was handled made us both feel awkward. At the end of my meal I closed out and as I am finishing up closing the tab the server puts my unfinished cocktail on my plate covered in syrup before I even got the chance to finish it. The worst part is every time I looked up I saw my server standing in the corner on her phone or sitting at the table with the rest of the staff chatting it up rather than checking on their tables or even providing the simplest service of water… now I know this is an airport, but still. I have never had such bad service either in an airport or regular...
