If you’re looking for a bite to eat at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, go anywhere other than Lucky Buns. This was our first time eating at this chain and it was terrible. It seems that base level expectations for dining is too much to ask for an airport restaurant? Immediately we noticed that our bottle of malt vinegar on the table had dead gnats floating inside. Our waitress only came by to take our order, and someone else gave us our food. After that, she only returned if we made eye contact or had to literally wave her down for basic things like water refills and asking for the check.

The food was even worse. Both of our burgers were overcooked and dry as the Sahara. I ordered a runny egg on my burger at extra cost and it was overcooked and essentially hard boiled, no runny yoke whatsoever.

The most appalling moment was when the only two servers and at least one bartender suddenly all started eating a family meal together on the dining floor, completely ignoring the almost two dozen guests still dining in the restaurant. I understand they need to eat too, but to all do it at the same time (instead of rotating shifts to maintain floor coverage), on the dining floor, with patrons still in the restaurant is horribly unprofessional. This is when we had to wave down our waitress TWICE while she was too busy enjoying a get together and no longer concerned about tending to the paying customers, and we weren’t the only table to have to do so.

The only saving grace that gave this review 2 stars were the queso fries. So if you just need a quick bite and absolutely zero service and don’t mind waiting 30+ min for your check (after having to hunt down your server) then Lucky Buns is the...

The older lady that’s servicing today, should learn some customer service because I’ve never felt so uncomfortable.

I asked if something could be removed from a plate, she tells me no, ok. I asked if I can just order a side of bacon because I’m a picky eater, not crazy hungry at the moment, says no.

I ordered a drink for now, connect my laptop and extremely rudely tells me I can’t connect it there because it’s across from my table, I said ok can I move to the table next to the charger, she says “no, you’re just having a drink you can sit over there” and points at the are near the window where the sun is hitting directly, mind you the place is empty.

I tell her the sun is hitting directly, I’m not going to sit there can I get the drink to go, she says “you don’t have to pay for it” and takes it from me with an attitude.

Lady, I was going to have my juice and in 30min order a burger because it was too early for one. You have like 5 people in the establishment, don’t you think someone that at least gets a drink and is willing to tip is better than no customers????

From someone that worked at a restaurant that behavior should be unacceptable, since I sat down she was looking down on me and giving me an attitude when I was just looking at the menu.

Can’t talk for the food by 0 stars for the service, hope she learns how to...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Lucky Buns and was absolutely delighted with the outstanding service provided by Carmel. From the moment I sat down, Carmel’s warm and friendly demeanor set the tone for an exceptional evening.

Carmel’s professionalism and attention to detail were evident in every drink she prepared. Not only were the cocktails crafted to perfection, but her knowledge and passion for mixology truly shone through. She took the time to recommend drinks based on my preferences and even customized a few to ensure they were exactly to my liking.

What really stood out was Carmel’s genuine kindness and engaging personality. She made everyone at the bar feel welcome, creating a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. Whether she was sharing interesting tidbits about the ingredients or simply chatting with customers, Carmel’s ability to connect with people was remarkable.

Overall, Carmel’s excellent service and exceptional bartending skills made my visit to Lucky Buns a memorable experience. I highly recommend seeking her out if you’re looking for top-notch service and an unforgettable night out. Thank you, Carmel, for making my...

I had high hopes for the Lucky Bun burger since it looked fantastic when it came out. Double beef patties, Gouda, pickles, arugula, charred red onion, and their “lucky sauce” all sounded like a winning combo. But once I bit in, it was all downhill. The patties were super dry, and even the sauce and cheese running everywhere, couldn’t save it. Total letdown. Service was slow. It looked like only one or two servers working the entire restaurant and bar. Luckily I wasn’t rushing for a flight. The saving grace? My Old Fashioned. Genuinely one of the best I’ve had lately. It was smooth and well-balanced. I would’ve ordered another if my server had given the opportunity. Typical airport pricing, but next time I’m in DCA I’ll probably try a different spot.

travel often and have been to Lucky Buns at DCA a few times now—and every single time, the customer service from Carmel has been incredible. She brings such a welcoming energy and truly makes you feel like you’re a guest in her home. It’s rare to find that kind of warmth in an airport setting! The food is fantastic as well. I’m gluten-free, and they always accommodate me with a grilled chicken breast, a side of avocado, and this delicious sauce that ties it all together. I genuinely look forward to stopping here on my layovers. If you’re flying through DCA, definitely stop by Lucky Buns and say hi to Carmel. She’s a gem! 10/10
