The American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial is very new and shares a profound message.
"In war there are no unwounded soldiers" is scribed in to one of the glass walls that keep nearby traffic noise to a minimum. Those words alone make this memorial one of my favorites in Washington, DC.
For photographers there are plenty of great opportunities with a water feature, an eternal flame and many details to explore.

Read moreI have the ultimate respect for those that have lost their life. Many of which are recognized with the World War II, Korean and Vietnam Memorials. What was previously absent was recognition for those that lost all or part of who they were, but continued to live. I'm glad to have a memorial to visit for some. Hopefully one day, there will be official recognition for the thousands lost in 'noncombat', 'peacekeeping','training' and classified operations. Those heroes...
