I went to dinner tonight with my friend who was visiting me. I am extremely disappointed in several factors of tonight. The service was not great at all. We asked for a table for two and were told it would be around a 30 minute wait. We told them we would wait and asked if they needed to take down our name or phone number. They told us no. There was a table outside on the patio area that only had one chair. Instead of taking a chair not being used by one of the other tables, the staff decided to just let the table sit empty. About 30 minutes pass and one of the girls asked if he needed help with anything and we told them we had been waiting for a table for two people and were told they didnât need our names. During the time we waited, two other women came in without a reservation and the staff seated them prior to us. Then we were seated right next to the bar and kitchen. It was so hard to hear and I was constantly being bumped in the back by staff members going between the kitchen and bar area. Just such uncomfortable seating arrangements.
When we finally got seated, we waited a while without water or anyone coming to check on us. Then there was a disagreement among the staff of who would wait on our table. He ended up having the bartender wait on us. The bartender was absolutely amazing. The food was okay. The fries were the best part of the meal. I just think it could have been way better and was disappointed in this as well.
Overall, Iâm very displeased in the overall experience as I was excited to try this place out with my friend who as in town for the weekend. Really just caused a lot of...
Read moreThis is a new restaurant and attached coffee spot in Georgetown that markets itself as a "friendly neighborhood spot that invites you in and makes you want to linger". With that description on its website, I had high hopes going in and was disappointed in some of the ways it is run. The biggest disappointment was being asked to leave before I even finished my coffee in order to make room for other guests.
Service: While the servers were very friendly and nice, inexperience of management showed through in several places. There was some confusion with seating, being asked to move, and taking a long time before a server came by (who was surprised I hadn't gotten menus yet). By the time a server finally came by, I had looked up the menu online and so was able to order without receiving a menu. After I finished my meal and was drinking my coffee, I was asked to make room for other guests. With the confusion at the start where no servers came for a while, I probably only had about 30-40 minutes between ordering and being asked to make room. So I still had half a cup of coffee at that time. As a solo diner, I felt unwelcome and left.
Food: The food showed some promise. I ordered a steak with salad and coffee at lunch. The steak had good flavor though was a little fatty and more well-done than ordered. The side salad had a good dressing. Unfortunately the steak came out colder than ideal. My coffee was spilled enough to be messy. Also, much of the menu was "not available" so the options...
Read moreI have been to Billy Hicks 2x since they opened. Once for dinner and once for lunch. For dinner we all shared the following: spin dip, sliders, steak, club sandwich and fried mozzarella. Everything was really delicious. The portion sizes were great. I actually thought they could have given less mozzarella moons because they were so large. I thought they had a good selection of beer and wine and atmosphere was lively. There are a lot of TVs, which was great since we wanted to watch the caps game. We happen to be sitting at a table overlooking the kitchen. That was pretty cool. We were able to watch the food being prepared. Our server was really sweet and friendly. There were a lot of people being very attentive.
The second time was lunch on a Saturday. The place was packed, and there wasn't a ton of seating available, however, the manager helped us by getting us high top near the bar. The bartender waited on us and he was great! We got the spinach dip again because it was so tasty. The first time I wish we had gotten a pretzel. They were ginormous, but three ladies about to go shopping didn't want to Over! We shared chicken tenders and a BLT. I thought the bacon was really crispy and yummy. Again, there was plenty of food for the...
