Washington DC's Best Kept Secret: SOLELUNA DC

Soleluna in Washington DC is one of those hidden gems that I've had the pleasure of discovering. If you're in the mood for an unforgettable culinary experience, you absolutely must indulge in their mocha and cheese danish. As I walked through the door, I was immediately transported to a place where time slows down, and every bite feels like a celebration of life. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee lured me in, and I couldn't resist pairing it with their danish. The mocha infusion in the danish is nothing short of a revelation. It's a harmonious blend of rich, dark chocolate and the invigorating kick of freshly ground coffee beans. Each bite is an awakening of the senses, a journey through the world of flavor that would make any seasoned traveler proud. And then there's the cheese filling. It's like a comforting embrace from an old friend, creamy and familiar yet so utterly satisfying. It balances the bold mocha flavors perfectly, creating a delightful dance of tastes and textures that's nothing short of poetry. What truly sets Soleluna apart is not just their ingredients, but the passion and skill with which they're combined. It's evident that the bakers here take pride in their craft, and it shines through in every dish. So, if you find yourself wandering the streets of Washington DC, make a beeline for Soleluna. Order the mocha and cheese danish, savor it slowly, and let it remind you that even in a bustling city, there are places where magic happens in the form of pastries. It's a five-star experience.

Incredible little café with an outstanding pastry selection and some of the best coffee available in DC! This hole-in-the-wall spot is located in the heart of Adams Morgan, where space is limited but the vibrancy and vibes are not. Soleluna adds to the cool, artsy energy of the neighborhood with their warm, friendly staff, unique assortment of pastries, and awesome Ecuadorian coffee. The coffee has genuinely never missed; I love the beans themselves, so I normally opt for an americano or a latte, but they also have a ton of homemade syrups that are just absolutely incredible. Whether you're a bitter or a sweet coffee drinker, Soleluna has you covered! They also have a fun selection of pastries, including fruity, tropical options like their guava or passionfruit croissant, or their mango danish. If something savory is a bit more your speed, they also have a classic ham and cheese croissant, everything bagel danish, and outstanding leek quiche. I usually go for something classic, like their standard croissant or pain au chocolat, but everything -- from the basics to the specialty -- are perfectly executed, phenomenally flaky, and 100% delicious. The shop is quite small, so, while there's a couple of small tables available outside, you're most likely going to have to take your order to go. There's barely enough space for the line to wrap around inside of the café, but I promise both the wait and the hassle of finding a new spot to enjoy your treats is completely worth it.

This has been bookmarked for me for a while now, and it was delicious! It’s a small space with no seating inside, but some tables outside to enjoy your pastries and coffee.

At the register they have a list of their housemade syrups which include chai, salted caramel, vanilla and chocolate. I went with their iced vanilla bean latte with whole milk. I noticed a juicer on the counter behind the register and asked if they sell fresh squeezed juice which they do! I didn’t see it listed on the menu so that was a pleasant surprise. My fiancé got the orange juice which was delicious. I didn’t try their pastries, but most of them were sold out and we were there around 11am on a Sunday.

My latte was delicious and their vanilla syrup was significantly better than store bought syrups I’ve tried. Overall this was a great spot for a coffee fix and I’ll be sure to try their...
