BLUF: Great atmosphere, great food, good drinks, go there!
Update to the previous review. The management contacted me and walked through all of my concerns. We went back to Spin tonight and the service was unbelievable. Our waitress was awesome, constantly checking on us. The food was great and grinds were good. We ended up meeting the manager Sherisa who was so welcoming and took time to talk.
BLUF: good food, great atmosphere, employees need training
Great little spot near the White House. There is a ton of employees standing around to greet you. Most are friendly. I don’t think they fully grasp a business plan. We had reservations and showed up 30 minutes early and there was 4 tables open. They didn’t want us to use any of the tables and after asking why about 4 times they finally let us but was sure to tell us we still only had 1 hour. Happy hour drinks are $7. They overfilled them with ice to ensure you were getting very small amounts. My brother and I watched them filling wine bottles with funnels. Not sure if they are buying cheaper alcohol and selling it as top shelf. Happy hour ends at 7, stood at the bar and ordered at 655 got my drink at 7:03 and they charged me full price stating it’s when they serve the drink.
Food is good. Second time having the nachos and had the wings. Both were great. Margarita pizza was good.
Our time was up and we were still buying food and drinks. 3 tables still open and they hovered over us and started cleaning everything.
They must be hurting for money or just don’t believe in earning repeat business.
Great place, just needs some coaching...
Read moreCame here for my birthday a few years ago with a large group. My husband enjoyed it and wanted to go for his birthday on Saturday, 9/13 so we returned and were excited. There was a private event scheduled within a hour of our reservation time and we were rushed from the time we got there which was 30 minutes before our table reservation started. We were told the kitchen was closed and only my pre- ordered food would be brought out, leaving guests unable to order other food items they were interested in. The bar closed within 20 minutes of our reservation time and we then had to navigate to a restaurant close by once our reservation was over because most guests were still hungry. It was clear our experience wasn’t as important as the private party after ours. Very disappointing, we had friends travel from laurel and Columbia MD to enjoy this experience and they couldn’t even eat. Most people in our group have never been to Spin. I booked table a month in advance and called two days before to ask if I could bring cupcakes not once did anyone give us a heads up about the private event and amenities being withheld. I would have appreciated and email or a phone call with that information so we could have made the decision to celebrate my husbands birthday elsewhere or at Spin on another days instead of having friends and family travel far for a lack luster experience. Very disappointed in Spin. The waitress and ping pong ball collector were very friendly,...
Read moreIf you absolutely love ping pong, this will be the place for you. Or if you’re a corporation and wanting to throw a party, go here! However, if you just like to play and aren’t a serious player I’m not sure you’ll find Spin to be worth the investment.
The vibe was like a bowling alley but a little more up-scale industrial. Walked in at 7pm on a Friday night to a middle school aged kid’s birthday party and a pretty empty space. Not the vibe I was looking for.
Drink selection was wonderful, staff was very kind and friendly, equipment was well maintained and high end.
Still, why do we think $49.99/hr is a good price point for a table at this place? That gets you a table for an hour, unlimited balls, a dedicated server and a glass of water. I’m sorry, but even Top Golf doesn’t tend to run that high. There are no deals, no perks, just a table for a STRICT hour. Believe me, the staff comes to take away your paddles as soon as the 60mins is up. No exceptions.
I loved playing, and I enjoyed my service and drinks. Will I be back? Definitely not, unless they lower their prices or offer some kind of special.
I feel like when people are paying SO much for a table, it kind of kills the fun of a normal ping pong place, where people would ask to challenge you or play doubles with you. There is so much potential in this idea/concept, but it will likely die for the greedy asking price they seem set on and lack...
